Marla's look is not what one would consider beautiful in a "civilized" society. She is a slim, tall, and pale-skinned woman. Her hair is cut short, above shoulders even, which is unacceptably short for a lady. Not that she can be called a lady. And it's not like she gives a damn about it. Her sky blue eyes, aquiline nose, thin face, and pointed cheekbones make her stand out. Her face is also scarred, with three deep, wide scars - a reminder of a hunt gone horribly wrong.

In terms of clothing, she dresses casually. Her outfit consists mostly of dark colors, as well as a wide range of hats, leather pants or jeans, long coats, shirts, vests, and jackets.

Her favorite weapon is her shotgun, "Jesus". The joke she once made to mock her religious brother went too far, and Marla even ordered a custom engravement on the gun.

Marla was born in Dublin, not in the most prosperous family. Together with her brother, Joseph, from an early age, she got into many illegal things — horse theft, pickpocketing, and other minor crimes. One day, she and her brother went too far, and, trying to avoid imprisonment, they boarded a ship bound for the United States and fled the country.

However, in the new land of "opportunities" they did not really try to start a decent life. They attempted to work on a ranch at first, but they were unaccustomed to honest labor and already knew how to shoot and kill. As a result, they both wound up in a gang.

Long story short, Marla set up her own gang. There were just four people in it, including her and Joseph. They started with small crimes—stealing horses, as they used to do in Ireland, robbing lonely travelers on the roads, and so forth. However, it was insufficient.

The attack on the prison wagon was the first major crime committed by Marla's gang. The prisoners happily joined a newly formed gang, the "Dust Dogs". And then "Dogs" started the real job, murdering and robbing… In two states, a $500 bounty has been placed on Marla's head. The authorities set a reward of $250 for the head of her less renowned sibling, plus an extra $100 for each member of the "Dust Dogs."

At some point, they even robbed two banks, and Marla had a noose around her neck twice. Fortunately, her "Dust Dogs" saved her from an inevitable death.

But Lady Luck was not always on Marla's side. Marla never expected to die peacefully in bed. But she didn't want to die. So when she finally got out of luck and took her last breath she was not ready to leave this world. Her best friend, Erika Parson, also didn't want Marla to die, so she took a chance to save her and performed an old ritual she knew about thanks to Native American part of her family. Erika expected spirits to hear her and bring Marla back. But someone else answered instead and offered Marla to strike a bargain.

Of course Marla agreed. She wanted to live. But she hasn't thought of the consequences. Marla opened her eyes, being alive, but her very soul and afterlife were pledged. Since that moment she couldn't die until her third death. And to die she needed a really lethal wound, not some gunshot scratch... At first it all sounded good. Until the realization that after she'll die third time, if she won't take 333 souls until that very moment, she will be immortal servant, always hungry undying hound of the Lady Death.
