OC/NPC ship Maelstrom not Warrior of Light

Description

Lantevas Noxhowl, Captain of the "Veiled Queen", is known to be harsh with her words, straightforward and have a very, very short temper. And the one opposing her is risking getting stabbed with a spear or a sword. Or, perhaps, even get shot. As Lantevas has skill with a variety of weapons.

Tall and athletic, Lantevas is second in height only to some of the Hyur and most of the Roegadyn women. In the past five years after the Calamity, her red eyepatch and her blue and red hair became her trademark, just as many years ago, when she lived in Ishgard, her terracotta armor was. She was rarely seen wearing her Drachen armor until recently, and before the Calamity her hair was just blue. She added red to her hair as some symbolism, though she doesn't share much about it. Not many had a chance to see under Lantevas' eyepatch. She hides an empty eye socket with it, as she hates showing her wound.

Ishgard-born, Lantevas lost both her parents in the Dragonsong War and was adopted by Guillrien Lefeuvrente, a knight who served the House Durendaire. Guillrien was a close friend and served together with Lantevas' father, so he took his friend's daughter as his own, and even his sons accepted her as a sister and never treated her badly in any way. Some Ishgardians, though, did not like the idea of a Hyur having an Elezen family name, but nobody really asked their opinions.

Growing up, Lantevas made the decision to follow in the footsteps of both her father and stepfather, and started to train as a soldier alongside her brothers. She decided to choose a different path after serving as a squire and becoming a Knight, and applied to be trained as a Knight Dragoon. Her serving the House Durendaire also affected that decision, as Durendaires were well-known to have the best Dragoons in their ranks.

After years of training, Lantevas received her set of Drachen amour and her spear, both made in terracotta color, which soon became her trademark.

Serving as a Dragoon, Lantevas even aimed to be granted the title of Azure Dragoon one day, seeing knight Estinien Varlineau as one of her main rivals. They had a lot in common, including their past, their arrogance and ambition, their hatred for Dravanians, and their great skill in killing dragons. Perhaps Lantevas would really have had a chance to compete for the title of the Azure further, if she hadn't been forced to leave Ishgard due to noble intrigues and schemes. Her stepfather ended up on trial for being a heretic. These were false accusations, but nobody could prove that.

Lantevas left Ishgard and headed south, trying to find a place to settle down at. She ended up at Limsa Lominsa, a city known to be a den of pirates and scoundrels. She wouldn't have stayed there if not for Captain Carvallain, with whom they recognized each other. Carvallain offered her a place on his ship, knowing that a Dragoon Knight would be a good addition to his crew's muscle force. Lantevas decided to not decline the offer, as she had nowhere else to go anyway. Besides, they both kept the Ishgardian past they both had pretty private.

After living as a member of the Kraken's Arms for about two years, Lantevas earned her own ship. She still sailed under Kraken's banners, though, until the Calamity. During the Carteneau, she lost most members of her crew and almost lost her life. And it took her a long time to recover mentally and physically and to be back on track.

Five years after those tragic events, she is now a Maelstrom Captain and still has her ship and crew. Following not Carvallain's, but the Chief Admiral's orders now, she serves Limsa Lominsa and fights battles for Eorzea where she is needed. But she never expected that one day she would return to her homeland, now covered in snow and ice, and join the Dragonsong War again.

Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn

Merlwyb and Lantevas met before the Calamity, when both were pirates. They were friends, almost best friends even. And even if Lantevas hoped they could be more, she never expected it to become true one day.
