Profile

A tall figure dressed in medieval Plague doctor's garb, carrying a flower crown on its head and a silver parrot head topped cane.

Not the tallest of the Gates, more the size of a human male with a very slender and lithe body. Its head is bird shaped, the 'beak' usually hidden behind a Plague doctor's mask as well as the pupil less black eyes that are more swirled holes than actual eyes. Its hands are as black as its head and seem to be covered with a latex like substance.
(Underneath the robe Plague has not a physical form but consists of myriads of rats/crows and flies)

Very calm and shy, this Gate desperately seeks company but knows it can't have it because its touch brings death to mortals. Even its fellow Gates fear it or are at least careful around it. It is rumored that a kiss could even bring sickness to the other eight immortal beings. Plague loves humans and it usually watches them from afar, always sad when it has to fulfill its duty though it can't cry but it does feel a certain sensation of loss. It only speaks in Latin phrases because being forced into his hermit's life made it forget most other languages and words.

Like the other eight Gates Plague existed since the beginning of time. And like the others it is meant to be a Keeper of the Balance. It doesn't hate its purpose, has accepted its fate but it still feels sorrow whenever its touch and presence brings death to so many. It has no closer ties to the other Gates, intimidated by Law, nervous around War and Lock so it is usually seen around Death or Famine even if it would not consider them on friendly terms. It also fears its own Key for her strange and erratic behavior and how she'd try to cling to it despite its deadly presence but she seems to mostly immune to it or just knows what protective gear to wear under her clothes. The only person that ever showed it genuine kindness was and is Time who feels compassion for the struggling Gate.

Plague loves life. It loves to watch the mortals in their daily lives, falling in love, fighting, struggling, pushing themselves through all sorts of hardships to prevail. It loves to watch new life being born and grow, be it animal, plant or human. Plague has a deep appreciation for everything alive.
On the list of things dislikes are some of his fellow Gates for how blind or cruel they act towards the mortals. Plague greatly dislikes War for being callous and uncaring about his terrible role, unable to understand how the battle eager Gate loves to bring death and destruction and laughs at the misery of soldiers and the many innocent lives lost. It doesn't like Death for being so short tempered and at times not thinking about his action first, ending up hurting others. Law is also not one Plague would ever consider itself close to because the jackal headed Gate is so stuck in keeping up the old rules and laws, not paying attention to how everything keeps changing and evolving and that a law made 2000 years ago can't be applied today in the same way. Same goes for Reverence who bemoans the lack of faith in humankind but shows little kindness in his own acts that would prove that he is living according to his teachings.

Like the other Gates Plague can't die but it can be imprisoned and kept in chains if it would fail to do what it is supposed to or break Law's order. Its touch is pretty much deadly, a guarantee for a long terrible suffering, where the body withers away under great pain. Its kiss will kill even faster, its victim found dead in the span of three days.
