Rex was born and grew up in the city with her mother and father. However, her mother was absent most of the time, and Rex's parents would later get a divorce. Even though her mother won the custody case, she was still rather abusive to Rex. In response, Rex would actively rebel against her mother's wishes, and grew up on old Internet culture. This involved being obsessed with the Creepypasta fandom and wanting to create fanfiction to post online. She didn't care if it was cringe, she wanted someone to notice her for her weirdness.

As she got into school, she ended up meeting Minus, who became her first friend, and then met Rice and Wren a few weeks later. Rex was jealous of Rice's family, as Rice had loving parents and Rex didn't. Though, it wasn't discussed thoroughly until years later, when Minus asked her about the teasing. Rex also made a couple of friends as she reached high school, dubbed "The Cool Gang".

After some time, Rex, Rice, and Minus would end up living together in an apartment. Rex was fine with this, as she wanted to get away from her mother as soon as possible. Then, another problem occurred: Rice and James would hang out together more often and Rex would become jealous over their relationship. She felt envious over not having someone that loved her, but she insisted that she doesn't like romance and that it's all gross yucky girl stuff. In reality, she just needs some affection.

At some point, Rex ends up forming a band with her friends from The Cool Gang, renamed Chemical Sunset, and the group would go on tour to play small concerts at bars and ballrooms. Rex hopes to make it big someday. She would go days or weeks practicing or going on tour, without coming back home to Rice and Minus. Though, her roommates consider this normal behavior now.
