Before arriving in Ilyaid, Clive was human. He lived among other children under a small chimney sweep business run by a senior chimney sweep. Many of the children were orphans, including himself, while others were there to help make a few shillings for their own families. One day, he wanted to surprise the orphans. Similar to Santa coming down the chimney. The boss was quite the scrooge during Christmas time, and Clive, being the oldest of all the children, thought it would be nice to give the children gifts. Just to lift their spirits. He prepared small wooden toys from scrap wood and made his way down the chimney. Little did he know, he had got himself stuck. One thing led to another, a fire was lit beneath him. No one heard him and he suffocated, breathing in the smoke.
