Back Home In Canada
Everything back home is still old-fashioned and stubborn . . .
OI. Her Hometown
Ruth is a Toronto-born tattoo artist.
Before working in the tattoo industry, Ruth lived in the suburbs of Toronto and had a fairly conservative upbringing. She lived with her two older brothers and parents, who own a small hardware store. While her parents expected her to stay and continue the family business, Ruth had other plans. Ever since she was a little girl, the idea of inking skin appealed to her greatly, but her imagination was severely limited by her parents' “no-nonsense” attitude toward art. Her brothers, however, saw things from her perspective and wanted her to live a life she could call her own, without the restrictions of family expectations. With the help of her brothers, Ruth gradually earned enough money to be able to be independent enough to leave Toronto and go to where she always wanted to be: Detroit, Michigan. With the help of her brother’s friend who was already residing there, Ruth set out to live her dream. Her brother’s friend is generous enough to give her a place to crash as she navigates her new environment (which is in great contrast to the quiet suburban life she once lived) and she makes sure to show her gratitude in return for all that he does for her.

Once she moved out, she instantly started looking for tattoo internship. She found a nice shop but it is a bit far from her brother's friends appartment. She has no car so he had to wake up early to catch the bus downtown. She called in for interest for a position and was on her way to the shop. Once in the shop, there was two twins that greeted her with mischievous grins. The twins, Hiroshi and Kiyoshi, teased her instantly saying they have a harsh boss and it's not easy to get the job around here. They freaked her out hoping to scare her off but she still came back later to have the interview with the owner of the shop. The shop owner, Roca Gregs who she met previously at the bus station, almost instantly accepted her offer. From there, she was able to live a vibrant life at the tattoo shop with three very interesting people.
