Russet's Links
"She was something of a terror when we first met, but that fear and discomfort, I'd go through it a thousand more times knowing that I'd have Russ's friendship by the end of it. I love her so much."
Russet thinks Minato sounds very polite and refined, but in actually says the rudest and most heinous things (a perfect diagnosis).
While he gets on her nerves when his enormous pride flares up, generally she thinks he’s pretty funny and useful. She often has to play liaison between Minato and (whoever he is currently feuding with) when Ariel isn’t around.
“Ah, milord’s other retainer. This one doubts the need for her to put herself in danger, but alas there are some spaces where I cannot accompany milord, so she says. But, does she understand that I can easily toss aside this form for a woman’s, as well? Nevertheless, Russet-dono is appropriately deferent to this one and so working with her is the easiest.”
Russet dismissed Sterling at first, but now she views him as someone so close to her he may as well be an extension of herself. She likes how easily he reads her and never misunderstands her. Apart from her grandmother, he’s one of the only few who can get past her walls and reduce her to a fully affectionate, kitten-like state.
"Apparently Russet is considered intimidating and hard to read, so I've heard. She's one of the most expressive and open people I've ever met so it's befuddling. People are thick like that, though. There's nobody else I'd prefer as a partner."
Russet thinks Patrizio is pretty funny. She finds that he is abrasively obnoxious with one hand and subtly thoughtful with the other. She appreciates that. Even though she's much shorter, she wants to pat him on the head. However, she lacks patience for any archaic views and self-destructive tendencies he may still hold onto after all this time. She thinks she can literally wrestle these habits out of him so she keeps an eagle-eye out for signs of them. It shows that she cares, though. Or, she's pissed.
When I think of Russet, I'm reminded of Hans Christian Andersen's, "The Little Mermaid." If you added more of a bombastic twist, that is. I can only hope she doesn't end up as sea-foam, hahaha! She's, hmmm, how do I put this? If I'm putting it in my own period's words, she's incredibly crass and wholly unbefitting of calling herself a woman, and if I'm putting it in this period's words... Gorilla, might be the term? Perhaps "Brawny" is the better term? I'm still quite unfamiliar with modern vernacular, so do pardon any errors on my part. Ah, not that I find these traits of her troublesome or negative, on the contrary, I think it's quite charming! It's a very unique form of self-expression that I find rather refreshing, it makes communicating with her a joy I could keep at all day. Ah, but there is one gripe, I still have trouble between reading whether she's amused or angered, and most often than not I find it's "angered" in my presence. I wonder why that is...?
Russet finds Shikai to be somebody who speaks often but says little - in short, the type of person she dislikes the most. She has little patience for psychoanalytical prattle and if he were not so dangerous an enemy, she would simply just filter out his voice from the world. She gets the sense that he wouldn't stop talking just because she punched him in the throat, and that for all he talks, he is not /just/ talk. Such a situation makes her feel powerless, which puts her on edge.
Why doesn't she go "Russ" herself off the nearest cliff. Hey-oooo- no, no actually that was bad. --- D-don’t worry Kai! I thought it was funny! Look, I’m laughing! Haha, hahaha… (trying her best to support him even though she thinks it’s the worst joke she’s ever heard) --- Ugh... having you comfort me makes it feel worse. Horrible nicknames aside, aphasia's an interesting disease. She strikes me as someone with expressive, which is fortunate when it comes to its interaction with "lies." Incidentally, she's just about the most expressive gorilla I've ever seen, and the trickiest. Is there any point in having your guard up so high all the time? Seriously, just what kind of perverted event is she expecting to happen to her? A perfect stranger strolling up to her and tricking her into her cat mode forever? No way, that'd never happen. --- Woohoo! Let's turn her into a kitty! Then you'd have someone else to play with! But can you even care for a pet? Without me, you wouldn’t even be able to take care of yourself... --- Woof woof. --- He became a pet himself!? The enemy's too strong, we have to retreat! Just kidding! She's weaker than Alexei, but it doesn't hurt to be careful! You never know, she might be too stupid for lies to work on her at all! Those gorilla types can get like that! --- Hmmm, I hadn't thought of that. But that'd be interesting to see too. I've always been interested to see if someone could physically wrestle their way out of a lie. Just hard German suplex it. That'd be fun to watch. A strong-willed girl like that could probably pull it off.
