Katla had always been an ambitious girl, but when she found out about the Hebridean Black dragon, she was obsessed. It was her dream to work with these misunderstood beasts.  Her personal hero was Charlie Weasley. In her spare time at Hogwarts she was stuck with her nose in his observations and books he later wrote.

After graduating, Katla also went studying dragons, but not in a sanctuary though. She traveled the Hebrides Isles of Scotland to see how they lived and thrived in nature. One day, she was mistaken for a hunter by members of the MacFusty clan. Katla was then offered a stay at their castle. She never left, though. She found a home and a fiancé who shared the same interests as her.
