Pedro Madrigal sacrificed himself- thus his family gained a great blessing.

Andres Hurtado sacrificed others- thus his family gained a great curse.

39 years later and Andres' daughter, Karla, the one who is always followed by misfortune, is still desperately searching for a way to break the curse plaguing the Hurtado family. The prophecy states that "the curse can only be broken by reconciling with the blessing". Try as they might, no member of the cursed Hurtado family has ever been able to find the blessing... until one fateful day, that is.

When Casita falls and one of the mountains surrounding Encanto breaks, Karla unexpectedly gains access to the family Madrigal.

It seemed like a most fortunate coincidence that she was there at the perfect moment- however, Karla, who has been unlucky for decades, is sure that something is bound to go terribly wrong if she’s involved.

Design notes/Trivia

• She has a small scar on her face/nose. (Has many more, but they're covered).
• Her necklace is a gift from Bruno- it depicts an aloe vera plant, which is believed to bring good luck. (It's actually handmade/engraved by Bruno, out of a piece from the first vision Bruno had about Karla. He accidentally dropped the vision and decided to "recicle it".)
• The patterns on her poncho (and skirt) depict a black moth and the number 13, both signs of back luck.
• Her curse only dirrectly affects herself- still, others may get caught in the "crossfire" if they get too close.
• Her pet is a black cat, Pablo, who refuses to chase mice/rats and only eats homemade food.
