Unlike the majority of other gods, Zarihan was not born of the Earth. She emerged, flaming like a great star, from the Upper Air, and crashed landed against the hard earth. It is said that the large crater which holds Lapta's most sacred lake was formed from descent, and that her coming changed the region, cutting through the endless rain clouds which baragged the world.

In most other religious practices, Zarihan plays a small role as Ys' savior, then fading into the background. But she is the central goddess of Lapta, the Great Mother of Gold, she who's death and rebirth comes with the Laptan new year. However, she is considered mysterious to peoeple outside of the region, and so worship of her has not spread far.

It is perhaps fortunate that the God of Upper Air enjoys generally watching events as they unfold, instead of intervening, or else a powerful ally could easily become an adversary.
