Ivorel Corvinway

A man of science and magic combined, Ivorel was often the target of many controversies in his time, and commonly accused of atrocities he did not commit. He was smart enough to combat these rumors, however, and faced little to no charges against him, despite the era's hunger for punishments by death.

Ivorel is best described to be a cunning and intelligent man with a hunger for knowledge and a fascination for the unexplained. He's usually very calm and collected, and even in his anger he's uneasily cold and quiet, as if there were a hidden threat hiding in his gaze. Although he's confident in his abilities, he's also fully aware there are areas he can improve upon, and is more than happy to hear out any criticisms he may face.

As a boy, Ivorel grew up in Camelot, during the age in which King Arthur ruled. Prejudice against magic was at it's height when he was only 12, but even at his young age, he sided with King Arthur, like many others, if not out of fear of the dangers magic could bring. This fear was later extinguished upon meeting two peculiar shapeshifters, seemingly of similar age to himself. Ivorel had mistaken them for demons, but was quick to realize this was not the case. A fascination in magical beings, and their abilities, sprouted from the ashes of his fears, and was one of many factors that set him on his path.

At 17, Ivorel began his studies in secret. He had little knowledge of magic, and thanks to King Arthur, finding mythical beings was few and far between. Speaking with the wizard Merlin was of little use either, so instead, he started working with the next best thing: Science. He dedicated most of his time to scientific research and study, usually involving chemistry and work usually meant for Artificers. It was rare for the boy to be seen outside of his home, as he spent each day cooped up indoors to focus on his work. When suspicions and rumors started to spread, Ivorel decided he needed to leave, both out of his own safety, and of his desire to expand his studies further. So he gathered his equipment and research, and set out to travel.

It still wasn't easy to find magic creatures on the outskirts of Camelot, now that they've all gone into hiding, but he did luckily come across a few artifacts, which he wrote about in a journal he carried with him. He jotted down notes about artifacts and any beings he could come across, as well as how their magic worked. While most of his journal was filled with research, there were a few pages of personal entries based on his encounters. After about two years of traveling, he finally stopped in a village called Sulvari, which to his luck, welcomed him with open arms. The townsfolk were much friendlier than those he knew of in Camelot, and he came to learn that magical creatures often visited the village, making his studies easier. It was here he decided to stay and make a home.

Sometime in his twenties, on one of his walks through the woodland, he came across a stranger, one who to him, was oddly familiar. This was where he met Daedrius, and where their friendship began to bloom. Unfortunately, not long after their bond was built, a dangerous creature named Kalor came upon their peaceful town, and wreaked havoc, trying to get to Daedrius. This was the moment of Ivorel's untimely death, much to the dismay of his new friend.

Yet, this wasn't the end of Ivorel's tale. Centuries later, specifically in the 21st century, he is resurrected in a gruesome ritual, where his body was rebuilt from only the bones of his remains. It was an agonizing experience as his muscles, organs, and skin rebuilt itself at a rapid pace, leaving the man gasping for air as he was reawakened from what felt like the longest slumber he'd ever had. It would take a lot of adjustment to understand the new era he was in, but he was alive, and had more questions in his head than ever before. After his resurrection, he started studying magic specifically, now that he had easier access to spells, potion brewing, and the like. It was necromancy he was drawn to first, and was also the first thing he mastered in his practicing.
