Rain was orphaned at quite an early age, which caused her to not really remember her past family or any relationship she might of had with them. This unknown knowledge which would of drove others crazy never seemed to have an effect on Rain as she never sought out her past family or showed bother or interest.  
When Rain was still quite younger kit a crylinko by the name of Everest adopts her, taking her in and trying to bond over having being abandoned and left by past important people in their lives. Of course this was met with a bit of bitterness as Rain showed no care for her possible past family she could of had. Their relationship grew more distant as Rain grew older, but Everest took care of Rain the best she could.
 
As a young teenager Rain was a bit feisty, bullying younger crylinkos into doing stupid stuff. One of these dares were in the early winter, the river seemed to have frozen over the night before and Rain wanted to see some kid go sliding across. She found a younger kid and started daring them to walk across, reassuring them that it would be cool and easy.
It was all fine until they hit the middle, the ice around them started to crack and down into the frozen river they fell. Panic and adrenaline shot through Rain as her first thought was to leap out onto the ice and help the kid, but something kept her planted in her spot. Mistaking her adrenaline for a thrill as she watches the ice until an adult came and grabbed her in a panicked rage.

Being taken back to Everest, she didn't expect to start getting yelled at or even pushed out of the house. Everest in some frantic rage yelling about how Rain killed that kid, but she didn't understand. Rain didn't think it was her fault, she couldn't of known the ice would break, what was she suppose to do? Risk her life to save one kid? It wasn't her fault they couldn't swim.
So she asks "Should I of died instead of them?" to which Everest paused stunned before telling her no, but she should of done more to stop it. Of course later being taken back to the orphanage, being returned to them like she was a faulty item felt like it said much more then Everest could of ever explained.

Rain stayed in the orphanage for a good amount of time, with being a younger mid teen, no one expected her to get adopted again, Rain didn't even have hope. She honestly didn't care enough to worry about it, knowing that eventually she would be old enough to be on her own and do what she pleases.
She was shocked when some cowboy looking guy came in, looked around, barely talked to anyone before picking Rain up and just walking out. She was pretty sure she just got kidnapped there was no meeting beforehand, no paperwork, no warning even. Yet no one who ran or worked at the orphanage even tried to stop him.
