Kirihata's childhood was very sheltered until he was 12 years old. He grew up together with his younger brother and older sister in Konoha. He was one of the most talented in his year, which is why he became a Jonin at the age of 12. His specialty is mist release. When the Third Ninja World War began, he fought like the other shinobi of the village. During the battle, he met the distraught and disoriented Natsuki.
