Daffodil has very messy insides. She is purposefully ignorant about others’ feelings and she has perfected her technique as to make it seem like she’s deeply invested with good intentions. In actuality she is self-absorbed, married to her grief and aching for the chance to let go of her inhibitions and fall into a connection she finds herself worthy of. Daffodil is painfully vain and has no qualms with boasting about herself, despite her glaringly obvious flaws. Daffodil is very charismatic. She loves knowing cats. Unfortunately she is very jealous and possessive. She has a short fuse and is defensive over her opinions, believing that she is always right.

She can be very narrow-minded. That being said, her feelings bruise like a peach, she will cry about it then proceed to make it everyone's problem. Her appearance means a lot to her, her reflection must show what she wants to see or she is not satisfied and she will let everyone around know it. She is not a particularly ambitious cat but the few things she feels passionate about will drive her to take drastic, perhaps exaggerated, measures.

Parents

Tigertail |

Tigertail is an important figure in Daffodil’s life. She feels as though she is her daughter, but lacks a connection with her. Somewhere during her apprenticeship she became more detached from her birth-mother. There’s a deeply rooted, ugly thing in Daffodil she crafted from her mother’s vision of her. “If I’m not perfect, then what am I? Not good enough. And I’ve never done… anything perfect, so- We’ll see.”

Pearwhisper |

Pearwhisper was Daffodil’s role model. She wants so badly to be like Pearwhisper, but Daffodil does mean things and loses her cool too much. She hurts cats, and doesn’t feel sorry because she meant it. Daffodil distanced herself from her mother when she returned from her patrol that killed the bob-cat. Pearwhisper was different, visually, and Daffodilkit didn’t appropriately adjust. “We couldn’t see her until she was better, and she never said anything about it, so… I never asked. Why does it feel like I’m the only one who didn’t move on?”

Siblings

Lavenderfang

Daffodil and Lavenderfang have an estranged relationship. Daffodil believes she is better off by keeping her family at an arm’s length, including her sister who she was once very close with. Daffodil envies Lavender’s drive and purpose. Her sister’s ambition and lack of inhibition is a point of conflict for Daffodil. “I guess if someone ever asked about her, I’d smile and say she’s my sister, of course I love her, respect her, and I should, right? That’s natural-! And at one point… it was. I think. I waited it out when it started to feel different and time didn’t do anything but make it feel even more… strange. Why can’t I… let it go, and act like it’s fine?”

Onionpaw

“Y’know, I called him annoying once, to his face. When he was crying. I whined about how his tears made his fur soggy, and afterwards when I was ‘paw and he was ‘paw, I never once said he was handsome, I never told him he was doing good, that I thought he was doing good, and I think the worst of it all is I never told him I loved him, and it wouldn’t be the same if I could tell him now.”

Sandpaw

Daffodil has virtually no relationship with Sandpaw after Onionpaw’s passing, the she-cat removed herself from her second brother entirely. Sandpaw’s survival and Onionpaw’s demise rages a war in her head. She isn’t sure if what she feels about Sandpaw is lingering grief or resentment. “As close as we were once you’d think I could think of a few reasons why I love him like my brother, and for some reason I can’t even say I love him or like him like a friend.”

Carrotblaze

Daffodil respects Carrotblaze, but she resents her as her older sister. Tigertail adores Carrotblaze, and Daffodil is jealous of that affection. It’s much stronger than what Daffodil imagines she could ever have with Tigertail. “I’ll never be Carrotblaze, that’s the only thing wrong with it all. What she is to mom is perfect, and I can’t be like that. I think she’s amazing but it’s not fair that I can’t be her… everything.”

Daffodilkit is born in MonarchClan, raised by her parents Tigertail and Pearwhisper, alongside Onionkit, Sandkit and Lavenderkit. She's a very whiny kit, who demands rather than asks, although she isn't hard to please, immediate cuddles will always suffice. She tends to stick close to her siblings, tagging along with the more adventurous ones once every blue moon, however she obviously prefers less excitable activities.
