- Orphaned at 10 after political posturing lead to the burning of her port-side hometown, Prosper was taken in by the freelance hunter Charles Dane who introduced her to the larger world and inadvertently set her on the path to becoming a hunter herself. Spending nearly two years in his care, each of his attempts to settle her somewhere ended with her finding her way back to his ship and insisting on being trained. Indeed, in spite of his best efforts to keep her sheltered from the dangerous nature of his work, her persistence proved to be the stronger force. Ultimately, Dane consented to teaching her in hopes of giving her a chance to be able to defend herself. Prosper took to his lessons with flying colors, proving to be a tenacious and creative combatant.
- However, still burdened by the traumatizing means by which she had lost her home, she fixated on her anger and the hope of revenge made possible through strength. Dane recognized her anger, and fearing he lacked the ability to reign her in before she could lash out he brought her to a hunters school where she could have more focus, consistency, and guidance from practiced hunters who knew approaches to their problems that included more than just running. It was an uneasy transition, and Dane's infrequent letters to check in left her feeling more than a little lost, but his instincts proved to be right. Formal training gave Prosper focus and a goal beyond revenge. Upon the completion of her schooling she pledged herself in service of Prince Wilhelm Severine and his small cadre of hunters. Though still a veritable apprentice among her fellows, Prosper establishes herself quickly and forms a close bond with one in particular, Nikolai— who proves far more willing to indulge in her tenacious streak and pick up where Dane's mentorship left off.
