Quill is a timid and flighty Icewing. He always seems to be on edge and startles easily. However, his unthreatening demeanor and frail body makes him easy to underestimate, and Quill is an exceptional liar. He's skittish and much more selfish than he leads on.
In his youth and early adulthood, Quill became involved in criminal activity. Small things, like stealing fish. He was noticed by a local gang and was basically forced into more organized crime - lies, theft, smuggling. Quill escaped the gang, and a year later the unlucky soul found himself working for the very Icewing royals he stole from, who would behead him if they found out about his past.
Quill does various chores. Sweep the halls, tidy up rooms, clean the kitchens, dispose of garbage, laundry, etc. He knows what he's supposed to be doing and tries to avoid direct interaction with the royals, but he also takes direct orders from them. Simple things like fetching them a snack, or searching for a specific dragon, etc. He didn't tell anyone where he was going when he left, and he almost never gets a chance to leave the palace, so Quill assumes nobody from his old gang knows where he is. But their gang also did a lot of spying on the palace so somebody has probably seen him.
