Orion has spent his entire adult life outside the confines of organized society as a guide and tracker. So much so that most others know him simply as “Tracker”, such anonymity has suited Orion through his life thus far. He has always valued his independence and so was well suited for his career in tracking, leading patrons through the wilderness to find hidden enemies, missing family members, or “lost” lovers. What happens to those canines once they are found is no business of Orion’s – he believes himself innocent of any and all crimes that result from his tracking.
In between contracts, Orion revels in the finer things in life, luxuriating in food, furs and flirting. An attractive man, the mixed breed is no stranger to the romantic attention of canines of all genders, and he is happy to reciprocate. An unabashed heart-breaker, Orion loves the comfort of physical company, of playing house. Committing to such a scenario is another story though. Orion fears settling down, fears genuine affection and emotion. He is very bad at communicating his deeper emotions and shies away from them regularly. Orion didn't have a normal family life - he was born to a mother with an absent father and they were always on the move never settling down. Rather than craving stability Orion finds a strange comfort in changing scenery and the temporary-ness of most social interactions. He mostly fears trying to build a life some place and having it not work out. He fears family life because he thinks he'd mess it up completely, especially in a father role.
However as he has gotten older and spent a little more time stationary, he can't shake the nagging feeling that he may want something more in this life. He has a growing curiosity towards more permanent relationships, but still fears them.
Being so used to having his flirtations reciprocated, Orion does not take rejection well, becoming pouty and cold when he doesn’t get his way. His temper will flare quickly if he is teased, particularly about his appearance or ability as a tracker and scout.

Backstory

The Before
Orion was raised solely by his mother, Lyra, and they lived a life on the move never settling down. His father, Virgil, was entirely absent in his life, leaving his mother after he discovered her pregnancy. The two survived well on their own, moving from place to place and making a living by guiding others through the deserts and steppes of their homeland.
After three years of working together his mother fell ill and eventually succumbed to her illness. Orion, not wanting or knowing how to settle down, continued with the lifestyle he had grown up with. Making a small name for himself as a scout and tracker, Orion eventually carved out quite a life for himself. In the field he would lead patrons to whatever missing canine they might be looking for. After these jobs he would spend a few days relaxing, reveling in whatever luxury he could demand as payment. Due to his mutated sense of smell, Orion is exceptionally skilled at tracking – once he has the scent of someone, he will never forget it and can follow them over great distances. This high level of skill has meant he could demand whatever payment he wants since he can almost guarantee success even in the most difficult situations.
Maintaining anonymity by concealing his name, Orion often simply goes by Tracker. This allows him to indulge to the fullest and slip away after he has had his fill.
Mangata
Orion has returned to Mangata after several years away as a guide for Sindri, the daughter of his dear friend Kalix. The young direwolf is like family to Orion and as such is quite protective of her.
