Quiet • Dark • Unforgiving
Descartes is an ancient tyrannical being, causing discord and destruction wherever he went. In his past, this dark being used to roam alone, only using Zeracorns for personal gain.
He invaded lands and herds, killing and claiming the land as his domain. Shadows befell the abandoned land, almost like life itself was in stillness. Those who fled and made it alive spread the word so others could prepare for his arrival.
Many still lost their lives... up until he invaded a herd of warriors. They stood up against him and fought back, actually managing to fend him off. This herd fought him many times... until he was able to rid it of multiple of their strongest... until the herd was no more... but it took a toll on his body and he was inflicted with many wounds that would take years to heal.
Descartes was a name that struck terror and still does...however his younger days of being a rampant invader have worn thin after his injuries recovered. He is still not the nicest fellow, but he has opened up to allow a few others like him to join his cause... like a herd or a cult... He is worshipped as a deity, not just the herd leader.

Nashira, the Banished
[ Former Foe ] Nashira, now a member of the young Sapna Herd, formerly was part of a very different herd. Warriors, brutes, conquerors. Descartes faced quite the force when they took charge and attacked his mountainous homeland. Descartes managed to singlehandedly vanquish a few members of the mighty herd but met his match on this electrically charged warrior. Knowing the whereabouts of where the Sacred Grove had opened that year, he lead the fight away from his home and toward the magical forest. There, Descartes and Nashira faced off. They fought viciously, not holding back on their magical abilities and, in one moment of vulnerability, Descartes ended the fight by blinding the mare temporarily, and forcing his shadows to drag her deep into the Grove before it sealed her in. Descartes ended the fight but had not won, only delayed... cheating the enemy Nashira out of her victory, at least for a year.
Kopperfield, the Infiltrator
[ The Trusted Informant ] Kopperfield proved his worth to Descartes many, many years ago as a former member of the Dothvaki, outcast due to losing a fair duel to Nashira. Refusing to cut his hair, a symbol of dominance and intelligence within that herd, he was cast out. Descartes himself was an extreme rival of the Dothvaki, wanting to claim their land back as his own, his sacred land. Kopp, now filled with rage at being humiliated by a former member, decided to move to the rival side. Using his knowledge of the herds grazing rotations and traditions, Descartes and Kopp carried out the plan to finish off the Dothvaki herd, splitting up the strongest members and murdering the rest. Nashira, who had been the biggest threat to both Descartes and Kopp, was sealed up within the Sacred Grove, left to rot within the strange forest to lose touch with her memories and her purpose. Since then, Kopp has served happily and willingly under the deity Descartes as he had proved his might by destroying those who wronged him.
