Ash had a good family for a while. His parents deeply cared for him and they were financially stable. Until one day, both parents disappeared.
Ash, who was 8 years old at the time, was picked up by his aunt. The two have never met before and the second they arived at her place, she left him alone. To cope with the loss of his family and old life, he burrows himself inside his room and build small crafts which he would bring to school to show to his teachers and friends.
Seeing great potential in the boy, the teachers would often give him materials to use. His projects become more and more extravagant by day. He starts spending more time at school as his room was no longer big enough to fit his larger creations.
This angered his aunt, who was already annoyed by the fact that he was always cooped up in his room back at home. In her drunken states, she began to physically beat Ash with his inventions, causing metal scraps and bits to penetrate through his skin.
As a way to cope for his destroyed works, he began finding comfort in these metal splinters.
After several months of abusive episodes with his aunt, his wounds reached dangerous levels. Until one day, his aunt had ran out of toys to use and grabbed one of his tools instead. She underestimated her strength and crushed both of Ash's legs causing the boy to pass out from pain.
No longer showing signs of waking up, she panicked and called an ambulance before booking it out the door. By the time the ambulance arrived along with the police, his aunt was long gone.
He was quickly transferred to the emergency room. The doctors advised that Ash's legs were to be amputated as well as removing the large amounts of metal pieces deeply lodged into his body as they were causing severe internal bleeding.
Ash had woken up sometime during the discussion and immediately protested against removing the scraps. Both in extreme pain and desperation, he thrashes violently against the doctors who were trying to restrain him so he doesn't further worsen his injuries.
Suddenly, a man appears next to Ash and calls for a change in operation. First, his legs were removed at the hospital before being transferred into a laboratory.
There, professionals began working together and built around Ash before connecting his body to robotic legs and a new life.
Upon liberation of the laboratory, he lived with Emmett for a while until he surprised the man by successfully completely self-maintenance. Afterwards, Emmett agreed to let him live on his own with a trusted adult visiting frequently.
He loves dinosaurs. He uses custom dinosaur stickers to sign his creations.
He gets really shaken up at the scent of alcohol. It reminds him of all the traumatic events in his life.
His whole body has robotic parts that are hidden under patches of synthetic skin. Only his legs has no skin coverage. Additionally, his legs can change color depending on what he's wearing.
He isn't the best at academics except for math which he excels in.
He is very passionate about his crafts and is always ready to show them off to as many people as he can.
Most of his creations are things he saw in movies and wanted to replicate them.
He has a problem with talking to strangers. He depends too heavily on his programs to detect danger.
He can sleep with his eyes open. His pupils light up to indicate when he is awake.
