Profile
Marco is a somewhat frustrated yet determined art student whose true passion is music. He often practices composing songs in his free time, and his style is thoroughly inspired by his favorite artists. He likes expressing himself through his compositions, although he's a bit shy when it comes to singing.
Born in Lisbon and raised in Brussels, Marco's used to moving a lot and has a hard time creating any strong emotional bonds with whoever he meets. He hasn't had many people he could trust in, developing a naturally reserved personality under his friendly exterior, thanks to the years of torment from his homophobic family. Others seem to like him for his natural tenderness, but his self preservation instincts always forces him to put up walls as soon as things start getting too personal, in order to avoid getting hurt again.
To some, he may come off as an obnoxiously nice person, and a lot of his teachers consider him to be a saint. But he's unforgiving with his witty remarks and dark sense of humor, sometimes taking people by surprise with his quick comebacks. He's a casual drinker, and not exactly lightweight, but he genuinely adores the taste of vodka and tends to get tipsy whenever he does allow himself to party.
He's also fairly big, being a little muscular and considerably tall, and often will bump into things and hurt himself inadvertly because he forgets how big he is. He's extremely clumsy.
He's somewhat ashamed of his nerdy interests, so he doesn't talk a lot about them, but when he finds out someone's into the same stuff he is, he gets incredibly excited and can talk about them for days.

Marco's roommate, and the one person he can trust everything in. Benny is nice to Marco, but he's not condescending or too coddling towards him, something that is deeply appreciated and made him stand out when they met. They obviously see each other every day, and genuinely enjoy hanging out together. Benny is easy to talk to, even when Marco doesn't feel like being a beacon of happiness, and he was also the first person Marco got close to since moving to America.
Marco doesn't really understand why everyone says Archie is insufferable, ever since they met he's been nice and kind towards him. They're good friends, and have spent a lot of time together since Marco's first week on campus.
He wishes Archie got along better with Benny, though. He would like nothing more than to see his best friends enjoying each other's company.
Meeting Eleanor was a breath of fresh air. While everyone else expects Marco to be something, be it happy, interesting, talkative, nice, etc. Eleanor doesn't really expect anything from him. She has the bad habit of playing therapist with her friends, and Marco is her favorite subject. He knows this, because every time he's feeling a bit under the weather, it's like she can smell it a mile away. She somehow always gets him to talk about his problems, even when he feels like it won't help. And it always makes him feel better, too. He tries to repay it by sharing music with her, and teaching her how to play the guitar.
Amalia is extremely easy to get along with, she's going to listen to everything Marco has to say and she'll make sure to talk at length about whatever he feels like talking, as long as she gets to fidget while doing so. He's not entirely sure why she indulges him so much, but every time she lets him talk extensively about his nerdy interests, while offering some anecdotes of her own relating to the topic, he feels appreciated and like the things he like aren't all that embarrassing if other people can find them interesting, too.
Marco thinks Blondie is nice, if a little bit too quiet most of the time. They get along just fine, but sometimes Marco feels like Blondie doesn't want to get to know him, or has no interest in being anything more than polite towards him. Which is a shame, considering he seems to be close to Archie.
