Leolto

Motegatavo was born to a loving Italian father and Native American mother. His father was a successful business man who came from over seas to begin working on the layout for a new city infrastructure. However, when he got to the states, they failed to tell him the land he would be mapping out was a small unprotected Indian reservation. He knew it wouldn't be easy to talk the people into moving from their land as they were a passionate people. And to be a truthful man he didn't want to do it as it felt wrong. He decided he would stay and try and learn the ways of the people and try and befriend them.

He had always had a soft spot for different cultures and the wide open country side. He spent months there learning the ways of the people,and falling in love with the chiefs daughter. After almost of year of spending time with the people he decided to quit his job in Italy and move to the land with the people. He asked the chief for his daughters hand in marriage, which was declined many times before it was accepted finally. They were married and she was pregnant soon after. The couple was granted their own small bit of land still rather close to the main village of the people.

It wasn't long until the couple gave birth and was surprised to find it was two identical baby boys. They were beyond thrilled and were excited to begin their new life together with their family. They decided to embrace the Native American culture and give them native first names and Italian middle names. The family was happy and healthy living on their land. The boys has plenty of room to run and play, explore and get into trouble. They didn't have much access to technology so the boys often spent their time with the animals and listening to the radio. The house was decently sized for a growing family and all the space was perfect for the boys. Eventually they converted the land into a small ranch. Growing up the boys were always drawn to animals, probably more than they should've been. They were always finding small animals in the forest that were hurt and taking them home to their parents.

Their mother was always thrilled to see the boys trying to take such good care of the animals in a passionate way. She thought them small first aid maneuvers to at least ease the animals pain and suffering so they could be rehabilitated and released.  From such a young age she could tell the boys were special. Over time their father was granted a position within the village as judge as he had extensive business, legal knowledge and the people had grown to trust him whole-heartedly.

Their little family was happy and healthy seemingly perfect. The boys were absolutely inseparable and did anything and everything together. They hardly ever fought and were hardly seen without the other. Of course they were a rambunctious two and had many broken bones here and there, but nothing serious. As they grew up they decided they both wanted to go to formal schooling to get more training with animals. Both parents supported their wishes and they were soon off to the nearest city to enroll in college.

College is where things began to get rocky. They did okay the first few semesters, but the party atmosphere of the college campus and bad influences of friends quickly dragged them off course. They became increasingly adventurous and reckless, doing less homework and more parties. They weren't shy to try party drugs here and there either. After awhile they got bored with the life and got back on the college track. Things were rather quiet for the next few semesters until Motega[Leo's twin brother] got a girl pregnant by mistake. This caused some friction between him and his off and on boyfriend Ataleo. Motega took responsibility to help her raise the child.

They decided to move out of the campus dormitory and into an actual apartment. Things were okay, but a bit strained as Motegatavo[Leo] didn't get along with Motega's girlfriend very well. Once the baby was born they all slowed down on taking classes to help take care of the child and also work. The stress of work, school, and a baby was stressful for all of them. By the time the baby was 3 years old the girlfriend couldn't take it and disappeared leaving the twins to care for him on their own. They both struggled greatly to work and try and provide for themselves in the tiny apartment. Thankfully they were able to send Taheton home to their parents ranch so they could better focus on school.

It was 1 long year and they stayed in that small apartment to try and finish vet school. However they were never able to graduate due to a horrendous accident.  It happened on a warm spring night and the twins had just gotten into a rather heated argument over something trivial and it being right before their final exams... tensions were high. Motegatavo[Leo] had put on a pot of pasta for dinner, but during the fight had forgotten about it. They argued and Motegatavo[Leo] stormed out deciding he needed air to clear his head.

He went to the nearest bar and got pretty wasted. By time he decided to head back to the apartment there were fire trucks everywhere, crowds of people and their apartment building was ablaze. His heart was pounding as he grabbed the nearest police officer and drilled him with questions. Apparently it seemed everyone had gotten out safely. That eased the boys fears until he started to look around for his brother and not finding him his stomach dropped once more. He tried to go back into the building but firefighters held him back as the building collapsing under the weight of the fire. Motegatavo stood there frozen not knowing where his brother was. He called his phone over and over only getting sent straight to voicemail.

It was hours before there was any news on anything. The fire had been caused by a pot on the stove which had been left unattended. Motegatavo didn't care... he only wanted to know where his brother was. That's when he got the news. Not everyone got out safely 1 fatality. Moketavato. He had fallen asleep studying for the exams and didn't realize there was a fire. He suffocated and perished in the fire. Motegatavo instantly blamed himself. Of course it was his fault, how could it not be? He was a wreck for weeks.. months... He couldn't survive without his other half.. his brother? His...identity. And to top it all off as soon as Moketa learned he was going to be a dad he wrote a will. He had left everything to Motega. His child, Taheton, was to be taken care of by him. And Moketa knew his brother too well, he knew just how much Motegatavo depended on him. Moketa knew Motegatavo wouldn't have the will to live if he were to die, so he wrote him a letter. In the letter it explained how much Motegatavomeant to Moketa and how much he needed him to be okay and be okay so he could take care of Taheton. Of course Motegatavo wasn't happy about it. He never wanted kids, he didn't know how to be a dad. How was he supposed to suddenly take care of a 5 year old?

After all the stress of his brother's death, Motegatavo couldn't bear to even go by the name he shared with his brother and decided he would go by his middle italian name, Leolto. He turned to alcohol to drown his pain and guilt drinking easily a bottle of whiskey a day. Their parents didn't take the death of their son easily either. They couldn't bare to live in the ranch house they had grown old in together with their sons and now their grandchild. They sold it and gave the money to Leo as they moved back onto reservation land to be closer to their people. Knowing his and his brother's ultimate dream was to open up a animal sanctuary, he took the money and did just that. He took Taheton and moved to a small town named Willow bend and began to try and get on with his life.
