traits: When he lived with the humans, they described him as a menace, difficult - no, impossible - to control. It was bad enough when he was a colt, his mother having died giving birth to him, but as he grew older, bigger, and strong... the humans became terrified of him. No one wanted to go near him, to touch him, but he had a job to do. Berserk didn't like the humans. He hated them. He hated being ordered around, still does, and he will only listen to someone if he believes he can get something out of it. Most equines just aren't worth his time. It takes a lot to prove yourself to him. Most of the time he'll just laugh in your face before telling you every little thing that is wrong with you. He is very observant and can read equines almost too well. Once he gets to know you, it'll be nearly impossible to lie to him, unless you're really good at it and he knows a lie when he spots one. How could he not? He's a pathological liar himself. He'll do it without realizing it sometimes but it's usually to gain something, to trick someone, which he does all too often. He's a sadist and is hooked on the high he gets from harming others. It doesn't even have to be death. In fact, most of the time, it isn't. He's killed very few, considering his lifestyle and his cold, frightening demeanor. But oh how you'll wish he killed you. He uses physical torture to get information out of his victims and then uses that information against them, mentally and emotionally tormenting them until you're begging for him to kill you, or to physically harm you, because he holds nothing back. Once he finds a weakness, he clings to it, uses it to manipulate and weaken. Afraid of the dark? He'll blind you or stick you somewhere dark for an extended period of time. Afraid of wolves? He'll toss you to a pack. Don't know how to swim? Make sure you're not around water and him at the same time. He'll rescue you. Most of the time, anyway. But he sure does keep you on your toes because you never know if this is just another one of his games or if he's actually going to kill you this time. Don't get your hopes up, though. He prefers to torture his victims to insanity.
mental health: Antisocial personality disorder, pathological liar, sadism

history: Berserk was raised by humans for the first two years of his life. They were always kind to him. He never experienced any abuse at the hands of the humans... so where did it all go wrong? Perhaps it was just something in his bloodlines, hidden for generations, or maybe sometimes just went wrong inside his head, but from the moment of his birth, Berserk was corrupt. The humans all laughed about it at first, thinking that he was just going to be nippy and stubborn, but it was so much more than that. By four months, he was attacking the humans and the mare that was fostering him since his mother died birthing him and in order to prevent the mare from being harmed they had to remove him from her side. A few brave humans bottle fed him for the next few months until he was old enough to be completely weaned but it only got worse from there. He could not be released with anyone else in the paddocks with him and they had to keep the stalls directly to his left and right empty for fear that he would break them down and attack the equines within them. Workers at the barns suggested that the owners geld him, thinking that, perhaps, it would calm him down, but the owners refused. They did not believe in gelding so Berserk remained a stallion. He also continued to get harder and harder to control.

The humans knew it would be too dangerous to take him out to shows or to breed him so they decided instead to have him work in the fields, pulling plows and heavy loads. To be honest, they probably made him work harder than they should have, but Berserk was physically and mentally tough and did his job. They thought he was going to behave. They thought wrong, however, because the massive black sabino was just plotting, biding his time, waiting for the perfect moment to act. That moment came just a few months after his second birthday. One of the newer stablehands (the barn went through a lot of them as many men and women grew afraid of Berserk and refused to work anywhere near him) left Berserk's stall unlocked. Berserk noticed but did nothing at first, waiting for the last barn check to be done, before kicking open the door and escaping. Out into the wild he went... and thus began his reign of terror.

It took just months for him to get away from the humans and claim a territory for himself. He started collecting mares and foals, battering with neighboring herds and developing a slave trade. It took just a year for him to work his way to the top. He was so much younger than the other brutes but he was fearless. Ruthless. And a good manipulator. He tricked others into giving up their land and their slaves, building himself an empire, training an army that quickly grew to be the largest and the strongest in all of the lands. Everyone feared him. His own herd feared him. No one escaped his wrath. If you fucked up, you were punished, regardless of who you were. He did not care about anyone, only about himself and about gaining power. And gain power he did. Though, of course, with great power comes great responsibility.

There were many raids on his home, becoming more and more frequent as the years went on, and he was growing bored of it. Deciding that he wanted to find one of his sons that had left the herd long ago, Berserk passed the empire down to another young, eager, power hungry brute (he did not see women as equals) and began his journey.

(10 years) One of the first individuals he met within the realm dubbed Wild Equines was a mare named Lilith (Icy). She approached him while in Unclaimed Hearts, mistaking him for Charm, his son - who he just so happened to be looking for. Thread.
