An off-model hellhound - this happens a lot, lotta curses floating around in hell and theyre quite mutable - and seeing as his sapience meant he couldnt legally be used in the legions, he was auctioned off to the highest bidder instead. Brandy was purchased and landed in the hands of a family of overworld nobility, where he was trained to live in their manor gardens as a guard dog. haha sapience amirite

Growing up as a puppy treated as a dog, Brandy made tentative friends with the children of the family but only fleetingly, and thus never really exercised his personhood. While he grew into it a little as he got older and he matured, at that point he had been trained that he should act like a dog - albeit a very smart one - and smothered most of it.

Brandy was stationed specifically at the summer vacation home of his owners, only for it to be overtaken by border conflicts, forcing them to abandon the place and Brandywine with it. Forever faithful to his job, Brandy fought off any attempts to remove him from the confines of the manor walls and was eventually left there to wait, alone, for nobody to return.

Brandywine is very mild and sweet and loves physical affection more than anything in the world. He tends to stay quiet especially since he's only learned to speak recently, but is an excellent invested listener. He is however fiercely protective and takes his duty as a guardian to almost extreme exaggeration, and will aggressively display distrust to anyone he doesnt know. Growl and posture first, ask questions later (and maybe only after a little biting).
