Rei Mbatha

Rei Mbatha was born on January 13th, 1990 in South Africa to a British father and South African mother. Early in life, around three years old, her parents got a divorce, her father moving back to the United Kingdom. They came to good terms after a few years went by, and Rei was allowed to visit her father for the Summer every year. As such, she got a large mix in culture and grew to learn both English and her native language very well. She even went to the University of Cambridge, earning her way into a great career in science. With her family at her back, a profencicy in science and technology, an award worthy smile, and her stubborn, go-getter attitdude, she was destined for being one of the great minds of the world.

Then, the date was July 19th, 2013. A terrorist attack shook South Africa to its core, destroying a mall which had only been completed a year before, killing hundreds of civilians and the Vice President who had been attending a charity drive. Deep within her studies, Rei felt a newfound fury like never before. It wasn't a week later when she tossed out all of her accolades and scholarships to enlist in the army, much to her parents shock and reprimands. Her father soon realized she wasn't going to be pursuaded to stop, so he instead helped her, flying out to personally help her train for basic. He was former British SAS, and knew Rei had that fire inside her to reach her goal. Her mother, albiet in shambles, did her best to cheer on her child, but couldn't help but feel powerless and heartbroken.

Rei, thanks to the help of her parents, came to basic training with a firey passion, deep down knowing this was what she had actually been made for. However, thanks to her brains, skills, and brawn, leadership quickly saw a slew of potential in her. After completing basic training in the top of her entire class, she put through to try out for the South Africa's Special Forces Brigade. She would go on to pass selection and her training would lead her to becoming part of the Recces, and came upon the role of a sniper. She would then go on to fight alongside other Special Forces in many clandestine and less than so operations. She would be credited with fourty-five kills in Iraq, a joint NATO undertaking to capture those responsible for the mall bombing, a quarter of which were high ranking generals and commanders. While she didn't get the killing blow on the man responsible, she was there when he was killed; she took out the helicopter pilot right before they escaped, earning herself being a key factor in his death.

After this opereration, Rei would sadly sustain a career ending injury in a car crash while on leave in Britian; a leg break that would never heal properly. She was honorably discharged and took up work in the private sector, working for private security and other companies where her skills were still applicable. It wasn't a few months after that wwhen she had a purely chance encounter with an intimidating wolf/gator hybrid from America at a bar. She learned his name was Jericho, and was actually there working for her own current boss, a politician who had made a few too many enemies with rival businesses, from a company she'd heard much talk of before; Hardshell Inc.

She didn't like him at first, finding his casualness as weakness and complacency, but she'd have her mind changed soon after when the two were attcked whilst transporting said boss to work, coming under fire from many armed individuals. The boss was killed, Rei suffered cuts and scrapes from the crash, including a gunshot, and Jericho had been driving the car with them, and had been shot twice in the initial attack. The rest of their men had been subsequently killed. The two fought valiantly against their attackers, and while trying to make an escape to a better fighting position, she saw Jericho had been pinned against the ground by an even larger man than he was. Rei shot the man dead and found the hybrid had already been stabbed twice and she had saved him just before the knife found its way into his throat. She saw the cut on his neck was bleeding, mere milliseconds from finishing the job. Soon though, they would be rescued and ultimately beat back the enemy force to retreat. Still, they had succeeded and given the pair a close reminder of their mortality. With Rei's head hung low, she was surprised to see Jericho approach her with a smile. He stated a very simple opportunity for the woman, and promises of being able to better utilize her wide array of skills. "Work with me in Hardshell."

Rei accepted.
