| Hoshi was born in a hidden spot in the mountains. This particular mountain was filled with abnormal beings like him, the result of monster and human offspring. Parents would give birth to these children, and then abandon them, leaving them in the care of the kind mountain spirit that lived there. After all, no one wants to claim a monster as their own.
Due to this, Hoshi grew up with a lot of other children like him. But since he was always so shy, and made squawking noises inside of words, the other children liked to bully him and push him around. The'd often tug at his feathers, or jab him in the ribs., or call him mean names. Hoshi would go crying everyday to the mountain spirit, who would hold Hoshi in their cold arms and try to comfort the poor half-harpy. Eventually, with the help of the mountain spirit, Hoshi did manage to get along with the others, and learn to speak. But it took a long time, with the mountain spirits kindness and patience pushing the harpy to go play with the others, or teach him form the necessary sounds to say a word. Much of Hoshi's personality was influenced by the kind mountain spirit, but he still hates the thought of being alone, and likes the attention and company of others.
After many years, the mountain started to be inhabited by humans. It wasn't safe for the children anymore, and so the mountain spirit ushered them to seek out a place of their own. Hoshi refused to leave, and tried to stay by the spirits side, clinging to their silken robes, as he watched the humans cut down the tree's that he had play on, destroy the land. He watched the mountain spirit grow weaker, and weaker, until one day they ceased to exist at all. There was nothing to be done, and though Hoshi begged them to come back, the only thing his yelling got him was a hoarse throat.
Hoshi had to leave. For real now.He was sad and alone, but he refused to let the anger he felt towards the human take over him, and instead, remembered the kindness that the spirit had shown him. The humans didn't know what they were doing. They couldn't see the mountain spirit after all, and they didn't know their actions hurt them.
So Hoshi set out on his travels, roaming from one place to anther. He was kept company by various birds and small critters that he met along the way, so he was never entirely alone. The harpy watched the humans, fascinated by the buildings they built, and the glows of lights in the dark. He watched them walk on feet that was much like his own. He was happy with his current lifestyle, though he silently craved for companionship. But he knew that he could never join them.
For after all, no one wants to claim a monster as their own.

Hoshi is a very loving little bird. He loves cuddling and snuggling (and he's really good at it), and giving hugs if you look down. Even though he easily gets spooked, he tries to act brave, especially if he is in front of someone he cares about or trusts. He will fluff up his neck ruff, and make screeches noises to try and appear bigger and scarier then he actually is. Though really, he's just a big old crybaby.
Hoshi gets worried easily, and is essentially like a mother. He likes to take care of others, and likes to give everyone a lot of attention. He is a good listener, and likes to comfort you when you feel down.
Hoshi doesn't like to be alone, however. He gives attention, but he also expects to get attention in return. He is often clingy, though extremely affectionate if he trusts you completel. If he feels neglected, he will express this by either whining, screeching, or doing something stupid to catch your attention. He just doesn't like to be alone.
