Works under Orochimaru
- a man made jinchuriki
- the only one from the experiments to survive
- a 'favourite' that has been kept close
- low self esteem, coward
- prioritises staying alive
- retreats at the first sign of danger unless they've a compelling reason to see a fight through
- despite this they are determined to get stronger and become more useful
- lacks ambition overall
- refuses to die as a pawn or war fodder
- kabuto's fag
- completes trivial but necessary tasks
- trains under both him and Orochimaru
- trained sometimes with sasuke, they clashed violently when sparring but we're otherwise... cordial with each other. Not enemies but never being able to see eye to eye. See personal weakness in the other.
- Rian, bored out of his brain most days, would occasionally press Sasuke for conversation if he was in a 'good' mood
- Transitioned during the Shippuden time skip
- Orochimaru did his top surgery :)
- comprehensive understanding of chakra and can manipulate it very well
- exceptionally gifted at space time ninjutsu, seemingly born of their obsession with evading and survival over other techniques
- knows medical basics (effective for self only, as it pairs with their natural regen) and spycraft from Kabuto
- has summoning contracts with snakes and a displacer-beast-like panther
- a capable ninja by virtue of being the student of a sannin
- is manipulated into tagging along with Kabuto after he begins his transformation as Rian has no one else to connect with or turn too
- trying to seek refuge in konoha again wouldn't have been a safe choice as an enemy soldier. Best case they would be put on the front lines of it's war, the last thing he wants.
- I originally have underestimated exactly how powerful the bijyuu are lore wise... Rian wouldn't just be a pet or a favourite to Orochimaru, he's a miracle. One of a kind with an immense chakra reserve, if only he could tap into it properly.
- his spacetime specialty essentially allows him to just walk through thin air and disappear (a compact version of Yomotsu Hirasaka)
- but these techs are worth far more than just running away and he is a force to be reckoned with if pressed to fight seriously
- they are an extremely good ninja who lacks field experience
- because the artificial bijyuu has no real personality drawing on its charka pulls out a lot of 'static'
- Rian sometimes refers to 'it' as 'Echo'
- unlike the others', his bijyuu cannot be removed as has no real form and will disapate violently once outside Rian's body.
- orochi/kabuto would have wanted to use or extract the power for themselves but the instability made it impossible
- doesn't have the curse mark that most of Orochimaru's other 'projects' share
- the creation of the artificual bijyuu might be related to (cells from) Kaguya Ōtsutsuki/Black Zetsu
