he was a ship captain that worked for one of the nobles of Aresnard, was sent off to see if a myth of a sunken library was real or not, one that had ancient texts on old magic, other realsm, and very valuable historical texts but once he found what the library held and that his employer was likely not gonna use it for anything good, he decided to go rogue, become a pirate and guard that specific area of the sea and its secrets but he was hunted down, he didn't give them the coordinates or instructions of how to get to the hidden library, so they put him in prison
he wasn't an undead before then 💦 they turned him into an undead to keep trying to get the information out of him, that's why he's been there for a long while
