Mei Tanigawa is a gang member often shown around the Haitani brothers. At first, many do not think she really fights or anything, just Ran's girlfriend that he brings around everywhere. Of course, that isn't the case at all, and the first time a punch is thrown at her she leaves the other person on the ground regretting ever trying something so stupid. From that moment on, she's been given a pretty intense reputation, with some people fearing her just as much, if not a bit more, than the brothers she's pretty much always around.
Despite her fearful reputation, she's shown plenty to have a caring streak. She fusses over the Haitani brothers a lot, making sure they're okay and not injured. And whenever she is shown to be around one of her siblings this caring streak amplifies even more. It confuses those who don't know her quite a bit, which she admittedly she finds fairly funny, and she doesn't really have interest in stopping the rumors so she simply allows them to happen, laughing every now and then when a really ridiculous one pops up.

Summary
Mei lived in an extremely reliious family, with her father being a pastor. However, her father, despite acting like a saint, was an extremely cruel man, causing harm to his family anytime they hurt his image or just generally did something he didn't like. Mei would find herself on the reciving end of this a lot, and still has many scars littering her body due to this even to this day. It was in this time of her childhood that she found solace in two boys, the Haitani brothers. The three became close friends, and she even learned to fight and protect herself due to the two. However once the two ended up in juvie, things became much harder for Mei to manage on her own. She visited the two as often as possible, but since she didn't have much excuse to be away from home now, things became worse.
Eventually things came to a head one night when Mei's mother was knocked and her father turned to her once again. Between fear she would die or her mother or one of her siblings would be in the unlucky victims, she put what she had learned from the brothers to good use and found herself killing her father. As an act of self defense, she was lucky to end up with no charges against her, and her family find themselves much happier after that. In that moment she vowed that no one would ever hurt her or the people she cared about ever again, and joined the brothers in a gang when they were finally released at the age of 18.
Design
• Her hair style and color changes depending on the time period.
• Scars are all over her body, the one across her lip is the most prominent one.
• She's fairly short compared to other characters.
• She's normally seen smiling/smirking in current day.
• Normally wears long sleeves.
Trivia
• Has two younger sisters and three younger brothers.
• Has two pet cats as well, named them Rin and Ran to annoy the brothers (only really annoys Rindou though).
• Often seen wearing Ran's clothes since they're so much bigger than her.
• Admittedly insecure, and doesn't really like being around mirrors.
• Dyes her hair a lot since she never got to do so when younger.
• Fights very often, but not really a fan of the sight of the blood.

Ran Haitani
Mei's childhood friend, turned boyfriend, and then turned husband much later on in the present. Despite acting annoyed with him a lot, she loves and cares for him deeply and he is the same way, even going out of his ways to do little things such as block her sight from blood during fights.
Rindou Haitani
Mei's other childhood friend. Rindou is usually more "annoyed" with her than she is him, but the roles can be reversed very often given how many fights Rindou tends to be pick. She fusses over him a lot and treats him like a little brother, and even if he refuses to admit, he does see her like a big sister.
Manjiro "Mikey" Sano
Only really knows him well in the Bonten timeline, but is aware of his existence before that. Doesn't have too much of an opinion on him but does respect his strength, even if he is kind of insufferable at times. Would probably fuss over him like a little brother too though if he ever showed any of his weaknesses.
Haruchiyo "Sanzu" Akashi
Respects his loyalty towards Mikey, but he isn't really too much of a friend to her. The two do get along at least, and have at least a good coworker type relationship, knowing they can rely on the other if they ever need the help.
