If there's something Asphodel excels at, it's looking at the general structure of things and figuring out how they tick or work. He's rather good at spotting problems within sequences, and can easily point out whatever seems to not fit in. Clocks work like this, machines work like this and yet... people tend to not be this way. The finesse of the human mind sometimes eludes him, and for all his logic, people don't tend to work or even act in the way he expects them to. People, after all, are not machines to be tinkered with and examined.Ash has reached a point in life where he's realized he has time to spare. He's well situated in life, relatively happy with his general surroundings and seems to have no trouble waiting for things to happen or people to come to him. He seems to be of the notion that it's likely better to let the proverbial horse come to you rather than hound it down. This sometimes means he loses opportunities, but at least something can be said for the fact he's not overwhelming and tends to let things flow and happen on their own time, rather than rush them. Why bother when one has all the time in the world?

While he's not used to people relying on him, having lived most of his life in a solitary fashion, he's quite loyal to his own, and business has not jaded him away. He's not prone to backstabbing, and when he promises to do something, he holds said promises to a T, as if his very honor is at stake, which in a way... it very much is. Despite being a rather apathetic person, when he's asked to do things, he tends to do them; it likely stems from the fact not very many people even bother or otherwise dare talk or ask things of him, and it makes the times when people do stand out all the more. Polite to the point of seeming almost Victorian in his manners. Ash will rapidly lose interest in people if they can not adhere to polite social conduct, to a point anyhow. He treats everyone with the utmost respect and consideration, and has got no time for those that are unable to reciprocate. Unfortunately, most of today's standards don't seem to mesh well with his personality, and thus, Ash has managed to make himself few friends. He has many business allies, yes, but no one he can truly call a 'friend', and loneliness is starting to weigh on him almost visibly. Asphodel can be... blunt. As a brick wall, really, and this stems from the fact he's both not used to social interaction outside of a business environment, where most people are nearly cut throat, and because he tends to believe in the idea of honesty. He's not entirely sure why people get offended when they ask for an opinion and then can not accept it, and while polite, often skirts the edge of what's permissible by today's standards. He's not so much cold as he is simply... awkward, but can very easily come off as it.

While it's true that he's reliable when actually asked to do things, it's clear that on his own... he much rather sit to the side and drink Tea than actually get anything not work related done (and even that is handled in the bare minimum necessary for him to maintain his lifestyle). One could make the argument that the man is suffering from depression, and perhaps one would be right, and yet... it's not so much depression as it is total and complete apathy towards the world around him; it hasn't given him that much to live for, and he seems to have lost hope and the spark of life many people have. If he can get away with simply going with the flow, he likely will. Asphodel has lost all hope in the world. He's not suicidal, mind you, but he simply doesn't see it in the light that most others seem to believe it's bathed in. Despite this... he wants to believe. It's clear he wants to wake up and see the world in that light; he just hasn't found anything or anyone that would bother showing it to him. As such, he comes off as a conflicted individual; he appears cynical in nature, and yet is disappointing when proven right. He WANTS to be proven wrong. Likely stemming from the fact he's not all that used to social interaction, Asphodel does not do well in a crowd. He tends to be entirely out of his depths when interacting with groups of people outside of a strictly business related environment, and he's easily overwhelmed by touch, warmth and human interaction. His manner of speaking and motions almost seems like the man would be entirely at ease within the Regency era, and this does not bode well for him.

Ash has been around for a very, very long time.

He's seen the rise and fall of a great many people, and for reasons unknown, became almost bored with it. Nothing seems to surprise him anymore... and nothing quite seems to entertain him. Except Tea. For some odd reason, he is rather fond of it, and likely due to the fact he's taken comfort in the beverage, tends to resort to it in any sort of time of crisis or stress.

He was one of the earlier Chthon to arise, and formed a rather tight partnership with The Wild. Both ravaged the land in those very early days until something happened and Asphodel... stopped.

Something or someone made him feel something other than constant anger, be it fear or some other different emotion is anyone's guess, and he abandoned his then partner so he could hide. Despite everything, he began to pay more attention to the world around him. Whatever events led to all to all this made him became rather conflicted with his past actions, and he has since been wrestling with exactly what instinct to follow. Though he tends to align himself more towards light than dark now a days... he can be pushed when cornered; there is nothing more dangerous than a cornered, frightened animal, after all.

Most of his money comes from contracts, done in the past, as well as being privy to information which lead to very successful investments. His 'business' is less actual business, and more along the lines of the odd contract, or the even more odd meeting with other creatures in the vicinity. For the most part, he is a rather neutral party however, and tends to stay out of peoples' wars, quietly sipping his tea, just like he has been for millennia. It's worked in the past after all, so why fix what clearly ain't broken?
