The Magistrate

The pages of the tome unfold. A downtrotted hamlet bathed in a wreath of flames. Bolts of fire searing through the sky, setting ablaze homes of wood and thatched hay. Through the thick and chaos, stands a tall imposing figure. Dressed in terrifying jet black robes, heavy armor, and a large pointed hood, he raises an ominous staff adorned with an eldritch mask as another blast of fire flies through the sky, tearing into the clock tower. Not a single villager knew from whense he came, or why. But of the survivors that remained, one spoke up. He said the robed mage had grabbed him by his collar and raised him with a single hand. And spoke. He recited a parable. Not too long. But not too short. A tragedy. A parable of avarice, and love, of pain and pleasure. By the time his sermon was complete, he was tossed aside, and simply walked off. That village no longer stands there. Once a simple hub of talk, trade, human trafficing, and hunting, now burnt to ashes. And so he closes his tome. A spellbook of children stories, written in a language none but he can decipher. Humanity has gotten far too removed from their base morals. People have become too happy with complacency. It is time they are reminded of the simple lessons in life. And for their sins, the Fury will pay back their due crimes in full. Thankfully, he has aquired what he personally deems his collection of disciples, who aid him in enacting righteous judgment to the blackened sinners beneath them. A bard with idle hands but whose talent with song and storytelling could prove most handy in his crusade, a barbaric man whose fury inspires him but simply needs guidance so that his strength can better shape our world, and finally a crestbroken knight with incredible strength whose mind is lost and simply needs a new leader to follow.
