PERSONALITY
River's personality intermingles with their hosts' own to make one shared tangible entity. Between the two of them they come off as laid back and mellow. Beyond the outermost character that most acquaintances may experience is a short fuse temper and a voice that could reach the most deafened of ears. They tend to be the one outside looking in on most social interactions, still unsure of their new state of being, but would enjoy a small tight-knit friend group– and may benefit from one. To those they grow fond of, River is generous and loving, showing a side of comedic energy and passion that those otherwise wouldn't see. They are one to wear their heart on their sleeve despite their seemingly casual and nonchalant composure, making them feel quite vulnerable. Finding true companionship, and not just understated tolerance, can prove difficult with River but with success can come a genuine, rewarding relationship.
History
Olivia grew up in a coastal city on the mainland and lived a peaceful, rather uneventful life within it through her early adulthood. It was after she turned thirty that her health problems began. Olivia hadn’t married or had children but she was close to her immediate family, as well as a girlfriend of several years. It didn’t take long before she was in decline and medical bills began to pile up. Her heart and mind held the weight of the turn life had brought her but a letter appeared on top of a stack of her mail. It held an invitation to the wondrous island Olivia had once upon a time read about in an online article. It felt as if the words didn't need to be read and she was packing. It was affordable. It was a chance to get away and let those around her find peace, as well as her finding her own. To Olivia, it felt necessary, even if selfish. Leaving everything behind but what she could pack in a suitcase, she found herself in Aelmere and for five years, got to experience all it had to offer. The quirks, mystery, people and oddities. Then, she was gone. But… not entirely.

Variant Abilities
Other than the standard variant ability of becoming ethereal and completely leaving the host within a state of vacancy, they are able to extend themselves partially from their host in an act of projection. While doing such a feat, the host is left on autopilot and the wraith is able to manipulate their immediate surroundings to a small degree, i.e. pick up small items, move them, open/shut doors, etc. Emotional projection– making the immediate area feel a certain way, depressed, joyful, etc– can also occur, if not always voluntarily, and changes in surrounding temperature. Training outside of their hosts and experimenting with their separation has made their impact on the physical world slightly stronger than a typical wraith but not without cost.
Variant Drawbacks
Any degree of separation between specter and host leaves the host vulnerable. When partially projecting, the host is left on what can be described as an autopilot and lengthy periods of non-attendance can be comparable to sticking your upper body out of a moving vehicle while also being the one operating said vehicle. All acts of using aforementioned phantom abilities drain the hosts energy while they are active and may make the wraith need to retreat their vessel into a place of rest and safety. Sometimes the host and wraith feel differently about a situation, causing points of mental contention and temporary derangement. Emotional projection isn’t always controllable, or the way they may make someone feel a sudden chill when they are near them. Any sort of wraith activity can make someone feel uneasy around them– that creep vibe.
