BACKGROUND

Growing up as a kittypet named James, Shalespots’ mother and owners gushed over her appearance to no end, often to the point of scolding her and pulling her from any roughhousing she’d do with any of her siblings to avoid mussing or damaging her beautiful, charcoal and rosetted coat. This fueled the flames of many of her kithood issues— her feelings of isolation, her frustration with pent-up energy, and her snappy temper at her littermates who seemed to have it better. The only cat who could get through to her was Jude Paw, the brother she was closest to— he was the only one able to snap her out of any periods of sulking she’d go through, unafraid of her sharp tongue when she was particularly moody.

But when her siblings Jade and Justin, now known as Petalpath and Wildspirit of CreekClan, vanished from their home in the neighborhood suddenly, she decided with Jude Paw to embark on a journey to find her lost siblings. The wilderness, however, was harder than expected on her and her closest brother, and tensions rose between them until they culminated in a massive argument between them, where after the exchange of some hurtful words, Jude Paw left Shalespots for the first time to brood on her own. When she finally gave in to look for him, he was nowhere to be found; he had left her in the dead of leaf-fall, alone to face the cold season.

Eventually, she stumbled quite literally onto CanyonClan land while being chased by a bloodthirsty eagle, and she ended up being saved by Duskwatcher, who brought her to their camp to have her wounds treated and to have a position in the Clan offered to her. She accepted, and since then she has befriended many cats as well as reunited with her long-lost siblings living in CreekClan, including Jenny (now Jennyheart) whom she hadn’t seen since her kithood. Guilt still plagues her at times as she thinks of her brother, and while she still holds anger at him for abandoning her, she desperately hopes he’s still alive (only so she can tear him apart herself later, of course).

As her ties to the Clan deepened, Duskwatcher rewarded her dedication by giving her his half-Clan daughter Pigeonpaw as an apprentice after she and her family decided to leave BriarClan and join CanyonClan. While they bonded strongly as mentor and apprentice, it did not last; after Duskwatcher died, Pigeonpaw and her family decided to return to BriarClan. Shalespots was quietly devastated by this, even as she kept up a strong front.

To CanyonClan, Shalespots is a determined, fearless warrior, a masterful fighter with a fire in her eyes matched by very few. She loves to tussle, but she’ll take up a cat on any challenge that comes to her— she’s a glutton for adventure, and someday, the recklessness that comes with that may lead to her downfall. Though Shalespots might be prideful and playful at times, she often maintains a cheerful (if sometimes competitive) disposition— no one in CanyonClan has really managed to trigger her fiery temper quite yet, which is certainly a blessing, but it might be startling in its intensity when it inevitably happens. She is very focused when it comes to anything important, though, and she proves to be a merciless foe with both tongue and claws to whoever wrongs her. As of late, however, she seems a bit more withdrawn.
