Akiyama Mami is a 1st class soldier belonging to the 7th Company of the Fire Force. At the time of the actual story of Fire Force, she is dating Shinmon Benimaru, the Captain of the 7th Company but she initially started as a trainee to complete her formation in the fire fighter academy.
She doesn't have any fire ability but for some reasons, she can resist any source of heat as long as it is not composed of water. In other words, she can't be hurt by fire, she can take with her hands a cake directly from the oven without being burnt. However, she can eat hot food and drink hot coffee, etc... (because it is composed of water). A human body can also transfer the heat to her for the same reason.
For that, she uses to imply herself to very dangerous situations as she thinks she can't be harmed by fire (while there are so many other effects!!).
On the other hand, Mami is one of the smartest students of her promotion and can provide very consistent reflexion over problems thanks to her knowledge.
