You can tell he's a butch lesbian because he super duper cares about how  he looks. Not to mention he is the eldest child of the queen and  therefore the heir to the throne and makes sure everyone knows it.  Especially because he's the only heir that is half rainwing, but he  likes to think that makes him more attractive in the end. He often helps  others, but he also wants to get rewarded from them.

Mother: Queen Bullshark (seawing)

Father: Prince Charming (rainwing)

Half-sister: Princess Dugong

Betta's hatching was quite the scandal at first. Because at that point everyone knew Queen Bullshark had a fling at some point during their last meeting with Prince Charming, adult son of Queen Darling of the Rainwing tribe.

But luckily, Betta has become quote popular. Not just among the seawings, but among all tribes. The Seawings rule the waters of both continents, making it unfairly out-of-bounds for travelers. But Betta had proposed a surface treaty to give safe passage to those on ships and flying overhead between continents. That basically means Queen Bullshark can't fully control who goes where. So she's trying to jump through political loopholes to make Dugong queen instead, which is unpopular with the seawing kingdom.
