Character

Janelle could be described as quiet, or reserved, but don't mistake her silence for shyness. She simply prefers to listen instead of speak. After all, there's a lot you can learn about someone when they're a talker. She's an extremely strategic individual, patient with her plans and combat. In addition, she's very loyal to the few she's grown close to and would do absolutely anything for them.

Background

Janelle often drew the short straw. Her parents had only wanted one child, and that child was Komos. With his charm and his talent, he was their hope for the future of the family. Janelle, as a young child, acted out in hopes to seek their attention. As she grew older, acting out began to become more extreme. She had always been very smart and that showed, especially amongst some dubious friends. While her parents reprimanded her for these ventures, her brother understood. He did not condone these actions, but he was more attentive than they ever were. He encouraged her to do what made her happy. In this time of her life, she felt that this came in the shape of criminal thrills.

So, as time went on, Janelle became a fairly proficient smuggler in the Dhamardes underground. She avoided the ire of the Praetorian Guard (including her own brother, who knew she was up to something but wasn’t sure what) and, in hopes to keep her parents happy, sends them regular payments. They don’t know it comes from a criminal - Janelle does very well at hiding - and as they say, ignorance is bliss. Finally, her parents are proud of both children, instead of just the one.

A prized triton artifact had been rumoured to be stolen and, while Janelle had suspected it would show up in the black market, she didn’t suspect it would show up at her house. She had been out the day her house was raided and her brother was arrested. She only found out when her parents came to find her that the guard had discovered the artifact in their home and Komos had “confessed”. Janelle had a sneaking suspicion of who had framed him and when she asked around (see: interrogated), her suspicions were confirmed. With some last words of reassurance to her brother, Janelle set off to find this pirate and bring him back to the Praetorian Guards. He’d have to confess, but by the time Janelle was through with him, he’d be hoping he never pursued a life of piracy to begin with.

She found the man responsible and made him confess. Her brother was released from jail and Janelle was offered a position in the Praetorian Guard for her efforts.

Notes

• Slow to trust, but tends to warm up quickly to people who remind her of her brother.
• Very analytically-minded. Will not take risks without thorough calculation.
• Lacks the charm and natural charisma that her brother has, and knows it. Does not try to win people over with faux smiles and witty jokes. Instead, prefers a direct approach to everything. Gets flustered when receiving compliments, unused to praise.
• A fierce warrior. Unrelenting. She takes everything she does very seriously and will often not allow for her enemy to surrender.
• Janelle has had brief romantic relationships in the past, but due to her inability to vocalise her feelings, they haven't lasted very long.

Relationships

Komos Mosarineth [ Brother ]

When things got tough and Janelle's parents were done with her, Komos was her rock. He was the one who took her hand and led her to safety in the strong rips and currents. She's always been compared to him, but she feels no resentment. If nothing, she understands. He's an outstanding, outgoing individual and anyone would want to be him.

Raegen [ friend ]

Raegen is similar to Janelle's brother in many ways, but he's...more. He's louder, he's brighter, he's uh...not as astute. It took Janelle a little to warm up to him, but through stubborn persistence, the two became inseparable.
