Profile
- 6'3 and built like a tank
- His ears are torn from shrapnel from an explosion in his youth
Macgowan is emotionally reserved, but kind and giving. He can be ruthless if provoked- but prefers to stay low key and avoid conflict wherever he can.
- He's in his early 40s, and slowly on his way to developing a dad bod (even if he does work out it's not near as much as he used to)
- He's very protective of his daughter and a little over-paranoid about doing the right thing, especially given he's a single father
- Reads a fewwww too many mommy books. Carts around a pastel pink diaper bag with stars because Lainey picked it. Also has a pink apron with fish on it because Lainey said so.
- Lainey is still a toddler, and behaves as such. She likes drawing and you can bet her pops is proud of everything she creates even if "Oh what a pretty......fish? Owl? Uhhhh" "Poppa it's you!" "Oh right of course..why am I green? And why is my head so big?"
Wholesome dad energy. - He used to be much more reserved and bad at forming relationships just due to not being able to trust people easily and wanting to be left alone. Nowadays he's a routine member of the neighborhood mom Sunday brunch so he can ask them questions and share stories of his little girl.
- He is asexual, and never had much interest in romantic relationships. Though he does now feel a bit of guilt that Lainey doesn't have a mother to turn to, he does what he can to teach her about her birth mother to keep that memory alive. He and her birth mother were friends- even if they weren't exactly in constant contact, they worked together on a few occasions. Likewise, this is why her mother asked Macgowan to keep her daughter safe as a trusted friend.
MacGowan is a former soldier working for a private agency under reconnaissance and extraction. He used to specialize in his team as the brute force of the team, breaking down doors, taking care of guards, and destroying anything in his way to rescue agents trapped behind enemy lines. He spent a long time as a lone wolf, rarely forming bonds with others because he wasn't used to familial relationships due to a rough home life and somewhat putoffish demeanor. His live changed when he was sent on a rescue mission, and he was unable to rescue his target, who unfortunately died in his arms. The woman begged him one thing- to take care of her daughter. Macgowan wasn't exactly cut out for this, but as soon as he met little Lainey he was hooked. He eventually adopted the infant as his own (ignoring the questions of a dog raising a kitten). Retired from his job for a more casual mechanic gig, and settled down to be the best "pops" there ever was.
Lainey was a newborn (only a few weeks old) when Macgowan met her. She was officially adopted when she was around 1 1/2, after being taken care of by him in trial and after the proper legal recourse. Due to lack of other known relatives, and the witnesses recollection of her birth mother's last wishes, along with his pristine record and commendations, MacGowan was permitted and approved to be her adoptive father first. He gladly accepted this role.
