Profile

- Circe was born in a small farming town

- Growing up, she had a rather strong natural affinity for necromancy

- Because of this, she was more or less an outcast from the other children in the village

- This didn't bother her, the phantom friends were much more accepting anyways

- As she grew older, her skills grew stronger, but she was uneducated on magic

- More powerful necromancy magic drew from the life force of the village residence

- Vast majority of the town fell ill due to this

- Didn't take long for someone to connect the dots, she was quickly kicked out of the village (Circe was about 12 at the time)

- Left to her own devices, she relied on the phantoms she conjured to look after herself

- Eventually word reached Emon of this "plague" Allura was sent to investigate (this would have been during Allura's early days as head mage)

- Eventually Allura finds Circe, she takes her in and takes care of her

- Allura sends Circe to Candlekeep School of Arcane, one of the most prestigious magic schools in the world

- Circe spends her time studying magic while there, quickly excelling in her skills

- While there Circe meets Miirym, an Astral Dragon cursed to protect the school

- Circe spends most of her time with Miirym, eventually breaking the curse

- Miirym pledges her allegiance to Circe, Circe sets her spirit free, but creates a summoning ring to call upon her

- Circe dedicates her studies to creating a body for Miirym so that she may "return home amongst the stars"

- Circe graduates from the school with distinction

- Events of Campaign 1 occur (See Bur & Curtana's backstory)

- Allura is sworn in a sovereign,  there is now a vacancy in the role of royal mage

- Allura offers the role to Circe. Cirice, wanting to repay Allura for everything she did for her, accepts the role

The Raven Queen and Circe have a love/hate relationship that seems to teeter totter back and forth. Raven Queen and Miirym HATE each other.

Circe is one year older than Cali. She was alive during the war. Her life is tethered to Miirym, so as long as one is alive the other one is alive. “In part of her efforts to bring back Miirym, they are tied to each other. So long as one lives, so does the other”

- Miirym once laired in a lone dark pillar off the southern shores, a tower believed to be tall enough to pierce the heavens

- This tower was passed down from generation to generation eventually falling to Miirym

- Some tragic event happened, the pillar was destroyed and Miirym fled

- Eventually she raided a magic school, devouring many scholars and irreplaceable books

- In punishment and retaliation, an arch sorcerer bound her to the keep which was only intended to last 20 years

- The arch sorcerer died before the 20 years was elapsed, nobody was able to undo the curse

- Miirym's body died in a battle that took place at the keep, but the curse kept her soul bound to the keep

- Something something spoiler spoiler

- Miirym is freed from the keep

Circe loves trinkets and souvenirs and sweets/candy. She also does not travel much and in recent time has spent most of her time in Emon’s cloudtop district (told to me while on our first date in the cart).

Circe loves childrens stories, calling them a “guilty pleasure”. She also seems to have interest in writing. Not only does she write letters to me but she also wrote out a huge long story in one of them ;w;. But yeah. Children's stories of valiant heroes and whatnot.

Miirym in the ring has the same sight/hearing as Bur did while in the sword. She can see and hear…

From the beginning of campaign 2 Circe had been in Emon for less than a year, told to me during the cart date

“Circe talks about how Allura found her and was the one who got her in to proper mage school well before she became queen. She was found after being run out of her previous town for fucking up with necromacny. Cali says her relationship with Allura is probably part of why she got her job. Circe says that Allura is very much a parental figure to her”

It was in the early days of Tal'dorei, well before it earned that name at least. The country had been at a constant state of unrest, the civil war was reaching its peak at this point. The resistance led by Zan Tal'dorei fighting against the what could only be described as dictator monarchy of King Drassig. The horrors of the war scarred the land, leaving its mark everywhere. Everyone involved saw the brutalities of war first hand. Many lives were lost and many friends and family had been slain in the process. Things were in for the long haul.

By some miracle, the small farming settlement of Pâturage de Vallée du Pin remained untouched. Whether it was sheer luck or the fortunate location of the settlement, the valley kept them sheltered. Even with the war raging on, they were able to keep themselves self sustained. The few farmers of the area would grow their crops to provide food as well as the cattle. It was the perfect little settlement. Despite the sudden stop of trading with the outer cities, they were none the wiser of the war going on.

One household in particular, headed by Elias and Sophia Brin was largely in charge of growing crops of corn and potatoes. In terms of size of land ownership, they certainly had the lions share. As a result, they had a rather large say over the happenings of the settlement. Elias would be considered the "unofficial" mayor of the settlement. They had no need for the formalities, but there wasn't really any clear discression as to who had say over things.

As time goes on, the war rages on outside, and life moves on for the people of Pâturage de Vallée du Pin. Sophia had two children, a pair of twin daughters: Circe and Kyrie. It was clear that from a very young age that Circe was gifted with the ability to use magic. As the two girls grew up, they were taught the ways of the farm as to contribute to the good of the people around them, as well as Sophia did what she could to teach Circe how to utilize her gift of magic. Magic was a gift that not may people were granted, to take that gift and focus it to help the good of others in the settlement was essential to their success. Circe too every opportunity she could to do so.

As the years went by, they grew up getting older, and the curiosity that drove Circe to explore her gift began to take a rather dramatic turn. She began to find her magic seemed to have a specific tendency to allow her to see and speak with things that weren't there. Little to her knowledge, this is the beginning of her exploration of necromancy and more specifically, the phantoms.

Growing up, Circe and Kyrie didn't have all that much conflict between the two. It was a rather peaceful household. Her mother, Sophia frequently spent time helping to look after the livestock of the neighbours and spending much of her free time doing craftwork. Needlepoint artwork and making simple jewelry from various scraps. Polishing shards of glass, stones and the like and fashioning different items out of scrap metal such as horseshoe nails and strips of wire from the fencing. Kyrie was much the type to take after her mother. Kyrie was not all that skilled at the jewelry, but she was exceptionally skilled at sewing and needlepoint embroidery with clothing. Everybody loves Kyrie's skill, the beautiful intricate patterns of clothing and the blankets for the work horses. Her skill was always to be shown to all the people of Pasturage de Vallée du Pin. Circe of all people to the greatest pride in her sister's skill and was very often the one to try on the different outfits her sister fashioned together.

Circe however, growing up was never one of the artistic types. She frequently tried to be involved in the crafts of her mother and sister, but it rarely came out as a "proper" finished product. This didn't matter all that much to her though, she was just happy to be involved in things. Outside of that she was more of the recluse type. Her personal time was frequently spent outside near the graveyard which was outside of the village and a little ways into the forest. Her innate magic allowed her to speak with the souls and manifest them into phantom images to interact with. Unbeknownst to her, these phantoms weren't the deceased as they were posing to be. They taught her different ways to use her magic gift, bringing the phantoms to more and more physical manifestations. These insidious spirits manipulated her into performing complex magical rituals, unleashing them upon the townsfolk. Over the next few days a plague seemed to have hit the village, people getting sick with horrific deformities showing across their bodies. In desperation to save her sister, she gathered the materials together and performed a magic jar ritual on her, sealing her soul into the jar, safe from her failing body. Unaware of her surroundings, one of the phantoms manifested also use the magic jar ritual on Circe sealing her soul into her sister's body, taking Circe's body for themselves.

The process rendered her unconscious. The malevolent phantoms continued their assault on the village. In the meantime, Circe was kept in a trance. The Phantom in the meantime began weaving together complex memory modification upon her. Because she was the one to release them, if she perished, their connection to the material plane would be severed.

Circe was abandoned in the woods some distance away from the village with the memory of being chased out by the local people. She fled, seeking refuge in the nearby cities, only to be turned away due to the time of war. In the meantime, the Raven Queen had taken notice of the sudden surge of undead spirits on the material plane, did what she could to sever their tie to the material plane. Using her magic, wove a sword together, The Sword of the Valiant sealing her away inside it. Her soul being left to wander the astral plane until she was released.

Her time in the astral plane was not a complete waste however, while there she met the soul of Miirym where they spent the years learning and refining her skills in magic.
