Personality

Encouraging Personable Mindful Compassionate Hesitant Delicate Well-Meaning Gullible

Virve is known to be a calm, kind, and patient woman these days. She does her best to make sure others are in good spirits whether that's by listening to them, keeping them company, giving them a flower, or just trying to get a simple smile. In her opinion, happiness of any kind is very important and positivity helps lead to a better overall life. Or moment, depending. However she isn't so thick as to understand there are reasons to why you cannot smile or be happy. In that case, she just wants to be the shoulder for the individual to cry on (or whatever they need). Her patience and willingness to listen allows most she interacts with to allow happiness.

Much to her own dismay she is also capable of being a rather stoic individual thanks to her upbringing. Despite usually trying to smile in these times, she can quickly fall into old habits of playing politics much like how she did when she lived with her family. When acting this way she can be seen as cold, unforgiving, and stubborn. In all respects it's mostly a defensive stance she takes. It can and does throw others for a loop if it comes down to it.

These two sides can and will work together for her though she'd rather be happy. Virve would be the fool to try and help others even if she didn't have the power to if it came to monsters. She wants to believe everyone in Hyrule has good in them and sometimes it just shows differently. Happiness to her is a step towards good in the land.

Background

Virve was born into a wealthy, upper class family in Castle Town. She was the oldest of the girls and thus was expected to behave in a certain way. Her parents encouraged her to act properly, showing little emotion, and overall thinking many things through rather than use emotion. Doing such allowed her to have a good education and a great magical tutor. However something always felt a bit off for her growing up. Things felt boring, unfullfilling, and repeated far too often. Her younger sister also brought up these feelings, alongside those of frustration. Virve tried to help her as much as she could but it didn't alway sturn out. The older she got, the more she started to feel as though she didn't want to follow her parent's ideas. There was a way to keep herself happy while breaking up this monotony of nothingness.

One thing she really wished for was a simpler life wherein she could make a difference and not feel stuffy all day. Others may have been content but all she wanted to do was make her parents proud while also trying to step away from this environment. That's when a job opportunity arrised in the form of a librarian. After some convincing, her parents allowed her to take this apprenticeship in order to help promote how helpful the family was. The downside of that idea was the fact Virve wasn't the best at it. The size of the library she attempted to help upkeep was too much and it was suggested she tried one a bit smaller, like in the Town of Hylia. Hearing that almost felt like a dream come true to her and she gladly accepted the job. Her family even encouraged her to go and her parents stated they were proud of her. For once, she knew they were truly being honest as she saw them smile.

Finding suitable housing in the town was easier than she imagined given the money she had. It did make her feel out of place to be getting better treatement purely due to money but at first she took it. All she had to do was help the librarian there and get the skills needed. For some time that worked. Then rumors about how she acted and who she really was started to arise. Little did she realize how she was taught to act around others wasn't quite right. In fact, she was making younger children cry by her look alone. This was upsetting. Virve knew that she was a kind person and that something had to be done. So for her, the first step was to try and make up for where she had started to go wrong. Smiles started to come and her tone became softer. Others noticed the change in how she presented herself despite a lot of her wording remaining the same. And over time it got better. People started to wish her a good day and some even asked for a flower as she often had been seen handing them out in the street to those who looked unhappy.

For right now Virve is content living in the village. Hearing about what happened in Castle Town does make her worried as to what happened with her family beyond her younger sister. She assumes that they would have come to her or her sister if they escaped. No word has come about them so she assumes them dead. This does dishearten her but she feels that her skills and temperment are needed more among the general population and the refugee population that has appeared in this town. They are hurt in their own way and she'd rather just make them happy even if it's only for a moment. Her answers will come in time.

Part of her hopes that one day she can have a life wherein she is able to help others in a better way rather than just hand out flowers.

Extra

Skills

Neutral Magic

Able to do basic magic like most with the capability. Isn't great at it as she would rather do things normally.

Earth/Plant Magic

Has the ability to make flower seeds grow into unnatural colors and patterns. Also is able to take a picked flower and have it bloom further sprouts in order to entertain others. In a pinch, can use it for defensive purposes but is extremely draining.

Gardening

A very basic understanding on how to grow things as most of her skill relates to flowers and bushes that may produce flowers.

Political Understanding

Raised from a young age to understand how to interact with those of higher class. May not understand the politics herself but knows when to speak, how to address others, and how to keep her head cool while showing little emotion.

Trivia

  • If it isn't clear, Virve's favorite color is blue.
  • It isn't uncommon to see Virve walking around town with a basket, handing out flowers she has grown herself in an attempt to lift spirits. What really makes others smile is when she uses her magic to let the flowers grow a bit more or bloom in front of them. The flowers themselves are grown by her as a hobby and are enchanted/grown specifically to be of special color.
  • Virve is actually able to play the violin, though she thinks she's terrible at it.
  • In her free time, she is attempting to learn how to sew outfits. She hopes to one day make a dress of her own instead of just buying one.
  • She used to donate money and food to those that couldn't afford it. Ever since the castle fell, she's been worried about losing her current lifestyle.
  • Being a librarian wasn't something she wanted to do. She may enjoy reading but Virve would rather be reading them outloud to others. And avoiding catergorizing.
  • Cuccos have attacked her in the past. When she was little, she picked up a chick and was attacked by its mother. Ever since, she's had a lingering fear of getting too close to them.
  • Part of the reason she hands out flowers in an attempt to help others smile is to remind herself that it is okay to smile.

Stephanie

Stephanie is a bit of a troublemaker in Virve's eyes. It's not that the younger woman tries to cause trouble but rather that she easily makes mistakes, misunderstands, or overall just forgets things. Her behavior put more pressure on Virve but she'd never blame Stephanie. She's one person that she trusts with her life, and the only family she knows she has left. The two of them were always close as children and Virve's still happy they keep in touch to this day. Though she really wishes Stephanie would have picked a better place to live rather than Ordon Village.

Nazar

Virve met Nazar a few years before the fall of the castle. She was still new to the town but still went out of her way to try to cheer others up. Nazar was one of the few given a flower that day in hopes of making their day better. Needless to say, this started a friendship. The two met multiple times by accident before deciding to perhaps just visit a place in town for a bit to talk. These kind of visits started to become a tad more regular as time went on. Overall Virve finds Nazar an interesting and fun individual. He is able to get her to laugh and smile, gives great advice, and is willing to help her despite whatever is ailing him. She hopes that he finds her helpful as well given she hasn't seen much of him recently. Perhaps his work had been disturbed due to recent events? She isn't sure and hasn't asked. Virve is also unaware of his true form, knowing only his disguised form.
