"That should teach you not to leave me in a pit alone."
Previously a perfectly normal hedgehog, Fade was corrupted by a malfunction caused by a ragequit. With most of himself being lost due to this, all that was left was vengeance. Fade is very vengeful, judgmental and calculative, aiming to drag his players in the same solitude he had to deal with for years. He also deals with a form of an identity crisis, not knowing who he is supposed to be anymore.

BIOGRAPHY
THE SPEEDRUN THAT STARTED IT ALL
It first started when Sonic fell into the inescapable pit as Super Sonic. It wasn’t a big deal, he’s Super Sonic, so he can definitely escape. Except…he couldn’t. The player, a speedrunner, was powerless in front of the powered-up hedgehog who was losing power, clueless as to what he could do. Eventually, the hedgehog ran out of rings, turned blue and died from the spikes. Frustrated to see their run ruined by their own mistake, the player rage quit. This corrupted the save file, causing a lot of unwanted changes.
While the zones were mostly not affected by the corruption, many of the enemies & characters were. The Badniks were able to move anywhere without restriction. Dr. Robotnik was permanently stuck inside his Death Egg Robot and was able to corrupt anything he touched. Meanwhile, Sonic & Tails were stuck in the pit of doom located in Mystic Cave Zone.
THE ENDLESS YEARS OF SUFFERING
With no player to control them nor any natural way of escaping, the two video game characters spent their years dying & reviving in the exact spot they were left at before the player rage quit. Living. Getting stabbed by the spikes. Death. Rinse and repeat. Those were the only things Sonic & Tails knew. With Dr. Robotnik corrupting more and more areas and getting to the Mystic Cave Zone, the effects started to affect the protagonists.
While Tails wasn’t affected by Dr Robotnik’s corruption, Sonic was very, very affected by it. His sprite glitched and part of himself faded due to this, causing him to lose his hands & feet as well. Eventually, Sonic was able to corrupt the spikes around him to make them harmless to him. Unfortunately, Tails wasn’t as lucky. He continued to deal with the cycle of pain. This caused Sonic to permanently delete Tails from the game to prevent his friend from suffering further. By that point, he was too different from the Sonic he used to be. As he cannot associate with the idea of “Sonic the Hedgehog” anymore, he renamed himself Fade, one of the many takes of Sonic.exe in the world.
RESTART...?
With this new power, Fade deleted the save file he was from, removing any traces of his corrupted nemesis. Unfortunately, he couldn’t bring Tails back. Now living in a world where everything is fine except him, Fade waited at the Emerald Hill Zone for years. The lack of Tails made his wait lonelier. It wasn’t until a group of young adults acquired his game and booted it up for the first time in 29 years. It was finally time for him to start his revenge on speedrunners, especially the one that corrupted his game.
RELATIONS
The daughter of the speedrunner who glitched his game in the first place. He wants to get revenge for that by making Alexia suffer. However, he doesn't know she is actually simply the daughter of the one he's looking for and tends to focus his rage on her. Alexia is currently unaware of this.
The first person who played his game after 29 years. Leslie being more of a speedrunning type, Fade tried extremely hard to sabotage her run, only for her to manage to get as fast as the Mystic Cave Zone. By that point, she, along with Caspian & Poppy, gets dragged inside the game.
The main player of his game, Arissa was forced to play Sonic 2 to save her friends, who were dragged in by Fade. Despite her having no idea what she's doing, Fade can't help but help her out a little bit by glitching part of her run to make it easier for her. He might've just needed company.
Caspian is so frustrating to deal with. While not as keen on speedrunning as Leslie, Caspian keeps talking about "wanting to leave as soon as possible" and "being tired of being here" and that angers Fade a lot.
Despite Poppy not having that many manners and being rude in general, Fade can appreciate how much she likes challenges and somewhat enjoys giving her a hard time. More tolerable than her boyfriend, that's for sure.
Fade absolutely hates Xenophon for tormenting him so much. It wouldn't be surprising if Xenophon is the first person Fade "deletes" from the game.
Fade has not actually met Sandalius yet, but he knows he'd hate him simply because he's Xenophon's boyfriend.
TRIVIA
- He can also be called Fade.GEN, although he hates the .GEN part.
- Fade is based off the pit of doom in Mystic Cave Zone from Sonic 2.
- He is constantly smiling and can't unsmile. Fade is actually serious most of the time, so the smile tends to destabilize most people.
- His main abilities include corrupting anything in the game, manipulating the game to look normal & dragging players inside the game. He has to manipulate the world around him to “grab” things, as he does not have hands.
- He would love to drag someone into the pit of doom, but has never done so.
- Fade can turn into Super Sonic. Unfortunately, it is very unstable and glitchy (he typically glitches the things around him), thus it’s usually best for him not to have the Chaos Emeralds.
- His eyes & the area close to his neck always has blood because that was where he was hurt the most often.
- The type of players he despises the most are speedrunners. To him, speedrunners are incredibly selfish & rude, only looking for a perfect score that will probably never be achieved. As vengeance for being left in the dark for so long, Fade will purposely sabotage their run in a way it can't be recovered at all. If they try turning off the game, he will drag them into the game.
