About

A wanderer with a passion for music and magic

Cordelia is a vibrant and sociable young woman who thrives on entertaining others with her musical talents and spellbinding illusions. Whether she is performing music and cantrips for children in the town square, sharing drinks with strangers in a dusty tavern, or hosting an intimate gathering of friends in her cottage, she feels right at home in any social situation. Her natural charisma and easy charm allow her to connect with people from all walks of life.

While generally polite and charming, Cordelia is not one to hold back her opinions. She has a sharp wit and isn't above conveying thinly-veiled distaste through backhanded compliments if she feels someone has crossed her. She is fiercely loyal to her friends and will go to great lengths to defend them if they are threatened or insulted. She will never back down from a challenge or shy away from a confrontation if she feels it is necessary.

Backstory

Cordelia grew up in the bustling beachside town of Calliope, where she was adored by the locals for her musical talents. As a bard, she performed daily in the town square and every evening at the Nine Lives Tavern and Inn. Despite the admiration she received, Cordelia felt stifled by the repetitive routine of living in a medium-sized city.

Her greatest distraction from the monotony of her life was interviewing the random adventurers that wandered through Calliope. These travelers' stories served as fuel for her songs and provided her with a glimpse of the world beyond her town's borders. Cordelia had a penchant for magic and often learned spells in illusion and enchantment from the adventurers she met.

One fateful night, a frazzled half-orc stumbled into the Nine Lives looking for a bed and a warm meal. Cordelia, ever the friendly host, bought him a drink, and after his nerves calmed enough, he revealed that he had just returned from a near-death experience in the Feywild. Intrigued by his story, Cordelia spent every evening talking to him for over a month, learning about the strange and wondrous world beyond her town. Finally, he announced that he had finished his business in Calliope and would be moving on. Cordelia decided to leave the city with him, seeking new adventures beyond the familiar confines of her hometown.

Design

  • Required: some kind of jewelry, usually bracelets or earrings, as she uses the jingling sound to cast bardic magic.
  • Her hair is violet/purple, not brown. Color may be altered due to lighting or artistic interpretation.
  • She has a huge closet mostly consisting of long skirts/dresses and bandanas. Feel free to mix and match. Alternate outfits highly encouraged!
  • She has lots of stray hairs.
  • Pose inspiration: ballet, flamenco, holding her tambourine

Trivia

  • Cordelia lives in a small cottage with a peach tree in front. Her living room is littered with instruments and sheet music.
  • She wears peach perfume during her travels since it reminds her of home.
  • Her primary instruments are the guitar and tambourine.
  • She has a short attention span - she may give up on things that don't interest her, unless a motivating factor like competition is involved.
  • She has a talent for mimicking accents and speech patterns from other cultures.

Spells

Minor Illusion

You create a sound or an image of an object within range that lasts for the duration. If you create a sound, its volume can range from a whisper to a scream. If you create an image, it must be no larger than a 5-foot cube and can't create sound, light, smell, or any other sensory effect. Physical interaction with the image reveals it to be an illusion, because things can pass through it.

Thunderclap

You create a burst of thunderous sound that can be heard up to 100 feet away. Each creature within range, other than you, must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or take 1d6 thunder damage.

Charm Person

You attempt to charm a humanoid you can see within range. It must make a Wisdom saving throw, and does so with advantage if you or your companions are fighting it. If it fails the saving throw, it is charmed by you until the spell ends or until you or your companions do anything harmful to it.

Disguise Self

You make yourself--including your clothing, armor, weapons, and other belongings on your person--look different until the spell ends or until you use your action to dismiss it.

Blindness/Deafness

You can blind or deafen a foe. Choose one creature that you can see within range to make a Constitution saving throw. If it fails, the target is either blinded or deafened for the duration.
