Carmen is, for lack of a better term, a demon. A being that was once mortal, returned to the mortal plane to collect souls and bound to a place called 'Avernus'. Most will not even speak the name of Avernus; a place so terrible and torturous in their minds that to speak its name is to give it power. Carmen doesn't remember how she died - she must have, though, because she's a demon now... right? She barely recalls her life before Avernus. Flickers of other Kalons here and there. A fragment of a name - not hers, but someone once loved very deeply.

But as time goes on, she's starting to remember more. Exploring the mortal plane isn't helping her forget. The visions often come with searing headaches, though they pass quickly. The memories do not pass quickly. Her name - Carmen, the one she uses now. It was her name then. She didn't start using it until she recalled that particular memory, a voice shouting her name into the darkness. Her demon name is far too difficult for the mortal tongue to pronounce, and she is trying to blend in at least a little, after all. One cannot procure souls for Avernus when constantly running from demon hunters or any other creatures who have taken up that mantle.

Personality-wise, Carmen is not hard to get along with. She's flirtatious, charming, and overall very charismatic. Carmen gives off a confident, carefree aura, but she is constantly fighting an internal battle. From what memories are trickling back, she thinks she is supposed to be - was - a good person. But what does that even mean? Is there truly a 'good' and 'evil', or just people trying to live and survive in a harsh, unforgiving world? Was offering someone their heart's desire in exchange for a soul truly a bad thing? Signing one of those contracts was what got her into this mess in the first place - she thinks, anyway. It's hard to recall. But what choice does she have? 

Notes

- Saw Daisy again when the person hunting her (Artorius) tried summoning a celestial for aid. When they saw each other, all of the memories came rushing back. Artorius quickly realised they had a lot to catch up on, and that Carmen wasn't all bad - so he left them to talk. They compared their differences - i.e. "you have horns now!" "you're... glowing" "you're still wearing your locket" - and stayed as long as they could together without arousing suspicion. When the time came to part ways, they feared they would forget each other. So they gave each other friendship bracelets woven from a combination of their hair. Whether the bracelets worked or whether it was simply the fact that they had met, they'll never know, but their memories didn't fade. They began seeing each other romantically again, in secret. When they had their first batch of kits, they had to split them up for their own safety - Gideon went to Celestia with Daisy, and Valentine to Avernus with Carmen. They continue to meet in secret for family activities.
