She was a gift to an upperclass rich little girl, a big dangerous pet meant to show off the racer family's wealth.
Despite her purpose and role in the family, the two of them got rather close. Much closer than the girl's parents would have approved of, had they known.
When Megatron finally got the war really going, she escaped them to help fight for the rights of the lower class. The racer girl ended up chasing after her, and despite being a tiny little car, she joined their ranks as well.

Then some time later, some giant fuckin alien wrecked the transport ship they and a group of others had been on, and they were captured. They were both renamed to just a rank and number, to serve this alien and all its needs.

Fortunately for them, the alien was sickly and had been slowly dying for a long while now. While this was the reason it had caught them to use them to begin with, it was also what helped them to get away in the end.

Now they wander the planet, looking for scraps to keep them alive and for anything remotely resembling a radio. Both are too damaged to actually do anything useful about their situation. They had no means of communicating with anyone outside their immediate hearing range, and no way to get off the planet, so they sit here and suffer
