Background

Hiroki lived the yakuza lifestyle vicariously through his father for most of his young life. He received Irezumi tattoos making up most of his back, chest, and some of his neck. He never committed any crimes, but he did often join the group to view them first hand. This hardened Hiroki at an early age, following in his father's footsteps by leading a gang of delinquents at school. Another student, Sumiko, built up the courage to talk to him one day. She asked him to hang out. Perplexed by the change in dominance, he elected to go through with it. Her father was a prominent member of the Japanese police, well-respected and lived a peaceful, happy life with his family.

Hiroki was surprised, not really being aware of this other side of life. He spent time with Sumiko almost every day, and one day her father interrogated Hiroki, asking if he was related to the yakuza like most delinquents. When he admitted to it, Sumiko's father offered Hiroki a proposal. "If you tell me where all of the members of the yakuza you know are, we'll keep you protected." If he were younger, or less exposed to this alternative lifestyle Hiroki would probably be more hesitant. But realizing that there is a light to the darkness of the underground criminal life he's followed, and deciding that he likes it much better, he accepts Sumiko's father's deal.

Her father does own up to his end of the deal, putting him in witness protection. With this, Hiroki needed to change his life. He had to tell Sumiko good bye, attend a new school, and go by a new name: Nobunaga Oda Masamune Date Hiroki Watanabe Daichi Hirano Masahiko Nakamura. (you see if this was an actual persona protagonist i feel like it'd be neat because you'd start off the game picking out his alias and you'd spend the entire time like god what the fuck is his real name--)

He's also really into nature and samurai?

His mom used to read him The Tale Of The Bamboo Cutter as a bedtime story, so he loves using Kaguya Hime. He even has a moon tattoo with Kaguya-hime sitting in the crescent on his chest. She's his wife. She's spoken for.

Masahiko's Phantom Thief name is Ace.

His tattoos consist of dragons, the aforementioned moon and Kaguya-hime, clouds, crysanthemums, and an oni mask. After meeting Sumiko, he got a tattoo of a branch with cherry blossoms on the back of his arm. He wants to get a tattoo of a severed head for every heart the Phantom Thieves change as a sign of pride that shit ain't like that no more.

Masahiko's gloves are orange to show his focus on physical damage. (Havoc Skills) His All-Out Attack line is "Just another clean crossroads killing."

Formerly lived in Sapporo before having to move to Tokyo. In Golden Gate, his old town was New York before moving to Port Aurum.

False identity replaces his former delinquent status with former president of the calligraphy club. Yeah, he... actually does have unusually nice handwriting.

Addicted to cigarettes, collects cigarette cases. Also occasionally smokes from a cigarette holder.

Masahiko doesn't actually need glasses he just wears the frames in order to further hide his identity.

At his new school, he's trying super, super hard to take advantage of the second chance he has. Masahiko is a crazy hard working student trying his damnedest to get good grades. He doesn't try to make strong personal connections with people, but he does make an effort to be more playful and happy than the serious, determined delinquent he used to be.

Masahiko acts brave and tough, but is actually terrified of the yakuza after turning them all in. He initially wanted a face transplant in order to make it impossible for them to track him down out of fear there are any members that were missed. He was offered tattoo removal, but he turned them down on account of them all being too personally valuable to him. Also there's a lot of tattoos on his torso and it would be pretty fuckin painful to get rid of them all

His Velvet Room is a panic room, mirroring how in the real world he's locking himself around various guards to protect himself from the threat of any remaining yakuza.

Masahiko strongly embraces the opportunity of a new life, choosing to take it as a samurai and living up to the standards of bushido as strongly as possible. With the exception of honesty because haha who wants to die not him nope

Does everything 110%. The hardest thing about his new life is that he has to contain all of his passion. He's prone to getting fired up and gets upset when other people make excuses and try not to keep up.

idk i'll put a proper trivia thing when i feel like it
