Originally a kitsune statue, for generations Noboru witnessed and absorbed the wishes and prayers of many visitors. Shaded by the tree of a shrine, his existence was one of observation, and blessing. However, when the town at the base of the mountain became deserted, Noboru's shrine fell into disuse, and eventually decay. Moss grew over the paths that had once been walked, and the echoes of prayer were long faded.
But Noboru couldn't forget the wishes he'd been asked to grant, the secrets he'd been trusted with. The longer the shrine sat dormant, the more he rattled with restless energy, kept alive by the memory of unanswered prayers. However, fate would not keep him stationary forever–one day an earthquake shook the mountain, and the shrine began to collapse. A chunk of debris fell upon Noboru and cracked him apart, releasing a burst of energy that eminated from his pieces. It was then that an esk saw him, and granted him form.
Now that Noboru can move, he spends his time travelling the land to help those in need, blessing those who call upon him.
