Leo Shortmen

Leo Shortmen was born on Alderaan in 40 BBY and is currently 19 years old in 21 BBY.  He attended the University of Alderaan and majored in science with a minor in engineering.  Standing at 5’9, Leo is on the shorter size for men and was given the nickname ‘Shorty’ by classmates.

Leo is work driven, to the point where he will stay awake for days until finally giving up.  He’s slightly socially awkward and would prefer to stay quiet in large groups, though when talked to, he will answer.  He is known to be blunt, often making the person he’s talking to angry/annoyed by stating his honest opinions or beliefs.

In 21 BBY, Leo joined Jay’s group in order to start making progress with his scientific studies.  Though quiet at first, Shorty soon warmed up to Emmett and the two became acquaintances.

The youngest of six brothers, Leo was unintentionally neglected by his parents, Cev and Xaalia Shortmen.  Though rich, his parents had no spare time between work and social gatherings to look after their youngest son.  Leo is approximately ten years younger than the second to last son.  Each brother has a ~2 (I just rounded it up and even numbers are easier for me to figure out) year age gap between them, excluding the twins and Leo.

Primarily raised by his oldest brother, Quinn- who was 20 year older, Leo saw Quinn more so as a father figure.  However, in a house filled with older brothers who were loud and rebellious, Leo sought out calmness and orderliness; which resulted in Leo being more prone to following rules.  School was a safe haven for him.  From a young age, Leo had enjoyed all forms of science.

Quinn, acting as Leo’s caregiver, had provided safety and stability for the young boy.  However, his other brothers had not reacted too keenly to Leo.  At home, Leo was constantly tormented by Re’on and Caxiz, who thought it was unfair that Leo had someone to look after him.  Leo began to keep to himself, often locking himself in his or Quinn’s room for days, and studying was his only relief from his older brothers.

When he was old enough, Leo applied to the University of Alderaan and was accepted and he majored in Science with a minor in Engineering.  Away from the loud noise at his home, Leo was able to finally get a footing on his academics.

However, after two years into University, Leo was starting to get fed up with the lack of progress he was making towards his scientific studies while on campus.  Sort of like he wasn’t stimulated enough there.  He practically dropped out of his last semester feeling underwhelmed with his progress and looked around to find a place to live and to work.  Eventually Leo ran into Jay who was starting the Epsilon group and decided to join.  Always by the book, Leo eventually learns to loosen up on following rules and regulations as he goes through missions with project Epsilon.
