Delaney was born to farmers just outside of Wedgehurst in southern mainland Galar. The family specialized in Wooloo and Mareep wool, and even sold Gogoat milk.

Mrs. Grey had many gynecological health problems, and her pregnancy with Delaney was a rough one. The doctor told her in no uncertain terms that if this pregnancy did not kill her, another one would. The Greys resigned themselves to having only one child, and thus did not care what gender their only child would be, just that they were happy and healthy.

This extended even beyond birth. Even though Delany was assigned female, they did not let that limit their child in any way - Delaney was encouraged to try anything and everything, from hobbies to clothes. (Not to mention, tasked with any and all farm chores, regardless if they were traditionally masculine or feminine ones.) The Greys thought that at some point Delaney would choose to be either a girl or a boy, but it ended up being that Delaney was happiest being neither, and yet both at the same time.

Delaney has a great love of Pokémon and dreams of being Galar Champion someday.
