While he acts confident, flirty, and loves to brag about his accomplishments, Achilles is, deep down, quite insecure from how his mother treated him as a child. Though he wants nothing to do with her anymore, he still feels a need to live up to the rigid expectations she meets. He often breaks rules and shrugs off failures, they eat him up inside. His mother clearly prefers his siblings, even if she berates them, too, and he’s much too tired to deal with trying to clear the air. He’d rather just go his own way at this point. He doesn’t avoid his siblings, though, but he doesn’t go out of his way to speak with them.
