sabo is an aasimar cleric, counterpart to player character kupo, an aasimar warlock
dropped off at a cathedral as an infant, his aasimar features - the third eye, the stubby almost-wings, the halo - earned him a great deal of attention from the priests and followers of sarenrae, some positive but mostly not. the third eye, in particular, allows him to see through and into darkness, literal and metaphorical.
as a teenager, he ran away from the cathedral to see what he'd find in the North, and at the border he saw through the darkness and understood things more clearly than he thought anyone could understand anything.
thats when he met the prince.
she understood, too, and took him in as one of her inner circle to counter those who would become hosts to the heralds of uprain.

basically hes kind of a Weird Guy, immediately set about watching a player character sleep because he was entranced by the darkness carried within them, did some truly evil things and hurt a lot of people, and eventually got to enjoy a full redemption arc but not before being sold to the fey by the prince and rescued by a combo of his friends and the party.
