Through high school, Waik was considered popular, and hung out with a lot of jock types. It was how he got the nickname "Gronk Ballspeaker," people just thought he was really good at sports. He kind of hated hanging out with these jerks, but it was a small town, so he just wanted to play a role he could fit into.
Waik has always tried his best for his parents, especially for the approval of his father, but he can never be enough for them. They always compare his failures to his sister's successes. He doesn't realize how toxic this is, and continues to try to live up to their impossible expectations. Waik tries his hardest at school, but still gets a mix of A's and B's. He tried to be good at various sports, but he never understood how to play any of them. He has a passion for running and axe throwing, but those don't "require a lot of talent," according to his father. His sister, Wula, even though she is constantly being put on a pedestal above him, supports Waik and his passions, and stands up for him when their parents are being assholes. They have a great relationship, and Waik is never jealous of her success, he is always proud. He keeps his necklace and bracelets from her on him most of the time, as a reminder that he is not stupid and he is worth people's time.
After being saved by a hero during an attack in his town, Waik decided to go to FCKAA to learn more about becoming an adventurer. He wants to do something to help other people, but also as an attempt to make his parents proud. Waik is ready to give a helping hand, and never leaves anyone behind.

Waik's father. A successful business man living in Fantasy Missouri with the DaFoaf family.
Unappreciative of Waik, and always having impossible expectations. Willem is always pushing him over his limits and is constantly disappointed in him. Waik still loves him and tries to live up to his expectations, not knowing how damaging it is. He believes that going to adventuring school could impress him a little bit.
Waik's mother. A stay at home mom living in Fantasy Missouri with the DaFoaf family.
Wanda is somewhat of a caring mother. She wants Waik to be happy, but she also can't help but think he is kind of stupid. She never stands up for him, even when his father is giving him a really hard time. Waik still appreciates her, and wants the best for her.
Waik's younger sister and best friend. She lives at a boarding school in Fantasy Missouri.
She is incredibly supportive of Waik, and he adores her. They are super close, and they can always turn to each other for advice. Wula hates the way their parents treat the both of them, and is trying to desperately get away from them. She can never quite convince Waik that they are not great parents, though. She is his best friend, and Waik feels like he can be himself when she's around.
