Temp. range:
80-120°F
Lifespan:
200 Earth Years
Status:
Endangered

The Sterdali /stɛəɹdɑli:/ are a slender humanoid race native to the desert world Phira. Unlike humans however the Sterdali have a variety of adaptations to survive in the extreme heat of their home world such as: long ears to help vent body heat away from their brains, thin skin to allow for quick recovery from wounds, and hardened mouth tissue to allow them to consume even the toughest of plants raw. On average Sterdali skin is very rich in pigment due to the strong sunlight of their world but in recent times it is becoming more common to see pale Sterdali due to mutations caused by their magically irradiated world. They are a highly technological society with their most recent inventions being, heatproof drills allowing them to build tunnel cities deep within what remains of Phira. Sterdali fashion often consists of flowing, loose fitting garments like skirts and tunics, they rarely wear shoes.

The Flamespike is the primary flora of planet Phira. It is the main food source for most fauna on this arid planet. It gets its name both its ability to survive in hot climates and it's spicy flavor. When uncut these plants can grow up to 20 feet tall. While the vast majority of this plant is a bright sea green the thorns are bright red in color. It can survive months without water due to it's highly water retentive body.

SAND-SKITTER

Sand-Skitter, Crawlers, Akeeten
Native habitat:
Deserts
Temp. range:
85-105°F
Lifespan:
10 Earth years

Sand-Skitters are a large (up to 1.5 feet in length) species of Phrian insect that are often eaten as a Sterdali delicacy. Their strong antennae and forelegs are used to burrow in the sand in the day, when night falls these creatures are most active. They have small wings that they can use to fly short distances. Sand-Skitters are herbivores feeding on the succulents of their home world. Rarely they are kept as pets due to their large size, tamed Sand-Skitters are often selectively bred to have brighter colors.
